You may qualify for a warranty replacement even if yours is out of warranty, but HP will not volunteer this info unless pressed. Knowledge is power: Google "x-bias spring" for more info on the "remove and check" error before spending any money.

Please perform the steps provided in teh following HP web link:
If the issue persists, please replace the cartridge and verify the result. f the issue persists even after replacing the cartridge, then the unit is defective and needs a hardware service
