The canon i560 won't print. The black gives a shadow of the printing, i.e.very light. The colours sound as though they are printing but no printing appears on the paper. Tried changing the print density lever but it told me to move it back to the left. Still won't print.

Print Nozzle Check Pattern / Self Test from unit Instructions to print the nozzle check directly from the printer. By printing a nozzle check pattern, you can check whether ink ejects normally from the print head nozzles.

  1. Load letter sized plain paper in the sheet feeder or cassette.

  2. Press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button.

  3. When the Power lamp blinks twice, release the button.

My i560 Canon printer prints all colors but not the black ink

after a month of not using the printer, most probably the print head is clogged.. try using the printer utility to clean the print head.. it's under the printer properties.. normally that should resolve the print missing issue...unless your print head is really clogged up...
some would suggest to partial soak the print head onto warm water..but it doesn't work everytime..

In the Printer Settings you have to leave it as '"Print in Color" always not Black even if you want to print B&W.

Canon i560s prints all colors except black

I had a similar problem and found out that you have to specify printing on plain paper. If you choose paper other than plain paper, it will make the black from other colors. Check also that all of your cartridges are seated properly. My magenta was not pushed all the way down so I got green instead of black ink when it mixed the colors to make black.
