When you push start button there is a humming noise and dryer won't start i release the button and noise stops. there is a burning smell. I cleaned the lint from under the dryer and around. I checked the belt and manually rotated the drum no binding. is it the motor or start switch? or what?

Hi,

  • Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

  • If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

  • Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.
Hope this will fix your problem for sure.

Kenmore gas dryer made a loud buzzing sound and didn't start. I smelled burnt rubber smell. Dryer is totally unresponsive now. Breaker is ok, power is on.

Sounds like the belt has burned and broken. There is a switch on the tensioner that will not let the motor run if the belt breaks.

Loud buzz when starting, then shutting down after 10 min.

Yes, this sounds like the motor cutting out on thermal lockout.
