Water doesnt stop after ice tray is filled

Kenmore 106.9547610

Water continues to flow to ice maker and overflows continuosly.
Fridge was turned off and sat for a month. When connecting water and power to after it sat, the water will not stop flowing to ice tray.

What detects that the ice tray is full of water an stopp the flow of water until next cycle?

I have a Kenmore with the bottom freezer. If the bail is down allowing the unit to make ice the water continues to drip and freeze in the tray. If the bail is raised turning off the unit the water does not drip. I assume from this that it is not the solinoid and must be in the ice maker itself. Can anyone help?

There is a micro switch in the ice maker motor module that shuts power off to the ice-maker water valve when the ice maker is full but i rarely see them go bad this is the easy way to deal with it pull the unit out unplug both the valves and turn the water on a sec if its running in the ice maker with the valves are unplugged then replace the valves if its not replace the ice-maker motor module

remove the front plastic cover on the icemaker and you will see a bunch of little holes make a jumper wire out #10 or 12 house wire strip about 1/4 inch off the ends an insert in the holes marked t&h this will start a test cycle make sure you hold the plastic insulation so you don't get bit if the ice maker starts cycling remove the wire and watch for it to stop listen for the icemaker valve to open if the ice maker finishes and the valve didn’t fill replace the water valves if the icemaker doesnt cycle and you may have to kind of twist the jumper back and forth to get it to make contact depending on the gauge you used then replace the ice maker motor module if you hear the valve open and the ice maker doesnt fill check for a frozen ice fill tube that should do it

I have a 10 year old, at least Kenmore ice maker overflowing into the ice chest. No obvious adjuster.

Can you locate the Kenmore Model Number? It will look like this=> 321.654987 What I think is the dual water control valve is leaking once it turns off. Here below is a ice a ice maker repair clip on You-Tube where he shows a slug of ice filling the ice maker fill tube. In most cases replacing the water control valve will stop the continued water flow to the ice maker once the ice maker fills. I will be here to answer any questions you have Thanks Sea Breeze

If water continues to flow slowly after filling the water control valve for your model will need to be replaced=> 241734301 Water Inlet Valve

If ice maker simply over fills and then the water turns itself off then this points to a problem with the ice maker=> 5303918344 Ice Maker Assembly

Ice machine will not stop filling with water...overflows

This sounds like a stuck water valve. Un-plug the fridge and see if the water stops flowing to the ice maker. If it stops, it's a control board (if equipped) or ice maker issue.

If not, turn the water off to the fridge, pull the fridge away from the wall, get behind it and trace the water line (small, plastic line) from the back of the fridge going down to the water valve. Remove the cover, and you may need to remove the water solenoid (the water valve) and see what happened.

Ice maker over flows with water

There is an orifice that controls the water flow to the ice maker . If to much water is being fed to the ice maker it will result in an overflow. You may want to check the pressure of the water system in your house.

If the overflow is being caused by a continuous feed to the ice maker your electric valve supplying the water may not be reseating after it shut off electrically. If this is your problem obtain a new valve assembly to replace it.
