Picture looks really bad

I assume you mean BAD power board...the power supply is the only board that wouldn't case your issue..chances are you have some bad LED's in the panel, in time the set will get to where it won't come on at all, you can take it apart and find the bad lamps and replace those strips if your somewhat mechanically inclined, be really careful handling the panel as if its broke then all is lost

Is this an LCD tv? You didn't include a model number so i can't really answer, but if its an LCD tv then try shining a flashlight on the screen at an angle, can you see what looks like an image on the screen with the flashlight? Its pretty common for the backlighting in a LCD to fail causing it to appear as if there is no picture but the picture is there just no lighting to make it visible. If there is still no picture with a flashlight up close looking at the screen it could be many things, failed capacitors in the power supply thats preventing the screen from coming on, a bad mainboard that the video failed but the audio still works, lots of options here.

The T con board is responsible for what you see and is responsible for bad, distorted images.

Your monitor is going bad or your video card is going bad. Try using another monitor on the computer to isolate the problem. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and see if you can barely see the icons and desktop on it. If the borrowed monitor is bright and clear and you can see things ok, then your original monitor is going bad. If the borrowed monitor shows the same problem of barely being able to see things, then your video card in the computer is bad.

sounds like one of two problems. first could be that the color convergenge chips on the circuit board have gone bad. the parts themselves are not very expensive, but a shop will charge upwards of 300 dollars in labor to do the repair. if you can solder, you could probably do it yourself. second problem it could be is a bad picture tube, but that seems unlikely since they usually last upwards of 20 years before getting weak or dim. if you are located near portland, oregon, i can do the work for you for much less. if you have any questions, please send me an email at [email protected].

1 5 oz bottle should be enough for each tube. The small picture is caused by bad opto-couplers on the large signal board. Let me know if you need more info on the couplers and where to get them

sounds like a bad CCD, try shooting in B/W to see if it helps.

There are only 2 chips for colour convergence in this unit. there is also a screen control on each tube but most of all there is a bleeder assy. that can control the brightness.

it sounds like the back light on both monitors are going bad
it might be better to call a repair man and get him to look at it see if it is going to be worth fixing i think it might be better then buying a new one at the prices now days
