Stk392-110 v stk392-180

Great post for the convergence repair. awesome links. I have no doubt that I can replace these and fix my ac56wp30. However, which ones should I use? I can pick up the 180's for $10 or 110's for $6 or I can pay $90 for the JVC direct replacement 110's. What's your recommendation?

flawless repair, thank you both for the info. I did go with the 150's because it seemed like perfectly good reasoning to me. On to the next one, a mitsubishi ws55613

Actually I would go and have gone with many times, the STK392-150's They handle more wattage than the original 110's but don't draw as much current as the 180's, which is good for the surronding resistors. It is a good balance and has worked for me many times. Hope this helps.

yes you can get the new replacement ICs at the following link. The heat sink compound is cheaper at radio shack as its 1.29 for a small tube which is plenty for installing the ICs. The link I am posting will tell you the correct ICs you need for your model if you leave them a email with your model number and yes they provide free instructions and free tech support so you can do the repair yourself. here's the link.

Yes the convergence ICs need replacing. I am not sure if your board is still available, however you may want to check the following link, they offer a service where they replace the ICs and convergence resistors often for less than most shops come out and diagnose for. Heres the link leave them an email with your model number and they will let you know the cost for repairing yours or wether a new board is available.

Convergence problems with Samsung PCN5425R.

that model has a convergence board, how ever it may not be the conversgence board as the convergence ICs are not on the Convergence board itself, and usually thats what goes wrong are the actual ICs. However this is an easy repair the parts are inexpensive and I can post a link where you can get new ICs and they provide step by step instructions with pictures so you can do the repair your self. Let me know if you would like the link.
