The system is just a year old and the subwoofer has stopped working; the remaining five small speakers are working fine. About six months ago it did the same but the sound came back when i moved the subwoofer by tilting it. The same procedure didn't work the second time the sound quit on me.
Has anyone else come across this problem? Would love to hear of it and the steps taken to resolve the problem

take it back for refund or exchange without delay. Too many times, there are cases of faulty factory assembly. Most likely a poorly connected wire inside sub, which fell off after a few booms.

try taking ones apart that have the rumbling and see if theres anything loose inside
SOURCE: Acoustimass Subwoofer has a low "hummm" sound when turned on.
Sounds like an inadequate ground wire in the signal cable. You may have to replace the cable between the reciever and bass module. It also, however, may be IN the bass or reciever module.

I will try as best I can... There is no light on the unit. There is a two position switch, that's your on/off switch located on the botttom of the unit next to the pwr cord input... When the straight lined side is pushed down the unit is energized. When you pwr up the unit you should hear a light bump, not a cracking noise. There is a fuse on the main input/output board that is pretty easy to pop and swap.

All I did was unplug my surge protecter for a 1 minute and once I did that I had bass from the module again. I am using a Belkin PURE AV power console.
