Have the same problem and found out that it is caused by the inserted CD/DVD upon start-up. (It reads then hangs-up). I tried to update the Bios, installed different OS, didnt work... I tried to use an external DVD ROM, WORKS FINE.

How do I get my Toshiba Tecra to boot from CD

Please restart the computer and press the F2 Key to enter BIOS Setup. Then follow the onscreen instructions to locate the Menu for Boot Configuration to select First Boot Device as the CD-ROM Drive or DVD-ROM Drive. Then select F10 Key to save the changes and Exit. Now insert any bootable Operating System Disc and restart the computer to boot from the CD.

When turning on the computer the first screen comes up stating Toshiba and at the bottem it says push f2 for set up or f12 for boot device selection menu but when you push a button nothing happens.

Why do you press these buttons in the first place? Did you have problems with the stability of your system so you want a different boot option?
If your laptop was experienicing random freezeups and you couldnt get it to boot at all, and nothing you do can get you past the Toshiba startup screen then your laptop may have a bad motherboard. Actually, it's more of a loose contact between the FSB controller chip and the motherboard. Take a look at this laptop motherboard repair tutorial for bad FSB chip contact, see if that may be of any help.

I have an Acer Aspire One notebook. I cant seem to start it. I turn it on and this displays : Check cable connection..! PXE-E63 : Error while initializing the NIC PXE-M0F : Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No...

It happens when no boot device is selected, the default is network boot first, you must select CDROM/DVDROM or HD as your first startup device. boot up machine and enter bios setup think its F2 key to enter bios generally it del or f1 or f2 it may say onscreen at start if f2 doesnt work
in the bios set boot order to HD as firstboot option then save and exit
hope this helps
dont know if all acers do this but also if you press f12 on boot up it gives you current boot options select HD that way is current boot and would have to be done everytime
