Cannot get pool pump to prime

Jandy pump, was working well and had storm that put in much debris and clogged intakes and skimmer. cleared up, emptied filters/skimmer and pool pump will not restart completely, it just flows very little water and does not get full suction. skimmer does not get any suction.

Turn the valve to main intake line (not the skimmer) and flood the pump with as much water as possible.
make sure there are no areas around the seals where air could get sucked in. when you get a full flow switch it to skimmer and main.

How to clean debris from impeller? Pump is not drawing water from the skimmer/pool .... I'm hoping the impeller is clogged and not something more serious like a shot motor.

There are normally 4 to 6 bolts around the outside connecting the wet end from the dry end. Undo those bolts and the front of pump should come away. Then you should be able to see impeller. Using a piece of wire poke it through each slot of the impeller to clear the blockage. Then put back together again. Remember to prime the pump

Pool cleaner starts and then stops working

Check for water flow / water flow restrictions / and water flow blockages.

Many things create water flow reductions: Dirty filters, plugged impellers, packed with debris baskets - both skimmers and at pump, closed to partially closed valves, air suction leaks: worn shaft seal, worn orings at pump lid or pump volute body, low water level, stuck skimmer weir blade/gate in the up position & skimmer empties and air is sucked into the system which may cause the pump to lose prime. This a problem that goes un-noticed and is hard to detect even by some service technicians!

Pool pump motor runs but doesn't circulate the water

make sure the pump has been primed, all the valves are open and in the correct position, no obstruction in the skimmer.
if the pump is working but water still not circulating, the impeller may be clogged with debris. you will need to split the pump and use a shop vac to remove the crud in impeller fins.

Our intex pool pump has no suction.

Start by checking all the clamps on the hoses at pump and at Skimmer, and tighten. Next, see if there is any visible cracks in suction hose and replace if cracked or leaking. Next, if that doesnt fix, loosen clamp and remove hose from front of pump and look inside to see if any debri is clogging the impeller, if so you can use a screwdriver to clean out. and last, make sure skimmer basket is empty and not packed with leaves and debri.

How do I relieve the pressure on the pump

Make sure that the skimmer and pump baskets are clear of debris. If they are full, an obstruction can cause pressure to build up. You might also want to re-prime the pump to relieve the pressure. Make sure that your impeller is clear of debris. All of these problems can cause pressure build up in pool pumps.

I have a Pentair Intelliflo pump system and lately it won't kick on to filter pool. It starts to prime and it won't create enough pressure on gauge to hit the threshold. It will get close and then it...

Your pipe could be clogged or you may have a clog in the impeller. Check the pump basket and if it is cracked then it is probally in the impeller and you may be able to reach it with a screwdriver and needlenose. If you have a crack in the skimmer basket it could be in the line and you can check this by putting a kitchen sponge in the skimmer and if it comes out in the pump the line is clear. If it is clogged you may be able to clear it with a flush bag you can get at any hardware store. If that dosn't do it you will need to get a pro. Good luck.

My pool pump won't prime

If the pump is above the pool water level the it is unlikly that the tank will fill completely with valves open (which is ok). Most pumps are self priming and will pick up a prime with water level below suction inlet on strainer. Try starting on main drain again and slowly open skimmer line. Did you remove water from skimmer line and winterize(if in cold weather climate)during closing?.I know this sounds stupid, but make sure water level in pool is well into skimmer. If air situation remains after scspriggs' and these thoughts then prepare for a pressure test on skimmer line to determine location of leakage.
