Question about Dell Latitude D400 Notebook

1 Answer

My Dell Latitude D400 laptop's USB ports stopped working. They used to work fine, now they don't recognize anything (card readers, mouse, camera, etc.) I removed the USB port drivers and reinstalled. It says that they are working fine, but they're not. I also turned off the energy saving option which will shut down the USB ports to save energy, so that's not the problem either. I know that the devices I plug into the USB ports are not the problem, cause they all (card reader, mouse, camera) work on my other computer. Please Help! Thank you!

I don't have a keyboard port on my laptop. I only have 2 USB ports (neither is working), a 1394 port, and a port port that I don't know what it is called (it is labeled with a symbol that looks like a straight line with 3 dashed lines below it).

    What is another solution?
    Thanks!

The biggest issue docking is airflow. With the system docked, airflow is restricted.

Might look at ways of improving airflow.

try connecting to a differnt port if it still does the same thing change the usb cable because what i understand is there is a loose connection somewhere ... or the best thing is contact dell at 18006249896 and ask them that u want to change the internal hdd and they will tell u what maximum the system can support and which is available with them ... its their system and if u buy parts from them they have to support u and make sure they both work
