Start with the printer all plugged in but switched off, then install the right drivers for your OS. If you are running Win7 you will have to download the latest drivers from the Canon website as the drivers on the included CD only go up to XP. READ all the instructions on the drivers install process, they will tell you when to switch on the printer. It should all be fine after that.
alright, open the printer foldeer and clik on add printer, choose te option local printer and click on next then chhose the option usb virtual printer port and click on next and after that select the printer driver from option you will get and install the printer otherwise you will have to creata a new user account and download the fresh copy of driver
The probelm seems to be related to the MecAfee Antivirus you have on your pc what I would recommend you is to first perform a clean re-installaion of the device drivers.While re-installing the drivers make sure you have disabled the av.
If your still having the same issue do not hesitate to contact XLNT Tech support.
mebbe you are in the market for new drivers? always wonder why the printer folk don't explain that when new cartridges are installed, so should new drivers..sheesh.. go here for those, the express route(look for canon icon)
Perhaps you can try:
remove the USB connection of the printer;
uninstall and remove all drivers of the Canon IP4200;
reboot your PC;
plug in your usb to the PC from the printer;
power on your printer;
let windows auto detect "New Hardware found";
let windows auto install drivers;
If after plugging in your usb and powering your printer Windows did not auto detect "New Hardware found", it's possible that your printer's usb cable is defective.
If Windows auto detected the Canon IP4200 and auto installed all the necessary drivers but failed in the test print, repeat above steps but instead of auto install, use the original CD driver and not the new drivers (Let me choose which drivers I want".
RESET - User manual is available from the Canon site. There are 2 versions, 1 is a Quick Start Guide in pdf and the other is a User's Manual (On-Screen). Both does not say anything about reset, however you may want to google "fix your own printer" and variations of resetting all sorts of printers are available. Some works, others are ... well you can always give it a try. Or in the On-Screen Manual,you can also try the Troubleshooting/Printing Does Not Start.
Another thing that you can try is installing the printer in another PC using the old CD drivers and see if it works. If it does, then it is a driver issue with the new PC.
If it does not, you're back to reset .
Hope this be of some help to you. Good luck and kind regards.
