Fuji Fine Pix Z1 - 'Card not initialised'

I have a fuji Fine Pix Z1 camera and it says 'Card not initialised' when I turn it on and I cannot take any pictures. Apparently I need to reset the memory card but am unsure how to do this. Can anyone help?

This happened to me when I disconnected the camera improperly from the computer. To fix it, I put the camera back on the cradle and connected it to the computer and then disconnected USB through the usual method (for PC, I would use the toolbar icon at the lower right of the screen, for Mac I dragged and dropped the camera icon from the desktop into the trash). Hope this helps!

Download any pics from the card using a card reader if necessary. Then, go into the menu and find "format" or "Initialize" and follow the on-screen instructions.

If your pictures are safely downloaded to the computer, format the card in the camera to initialize it.

Card not initialized error! please help me

Olympus cards don't always work in Fuji cameras. Maybe not at all in older Fuji's.
You could try and update the firm ware in your camera and see if that does anything (if it's available on the Fuji website) Go to the service and support section on the web site and you may be lucky

Fuji fine pix z1 error

I had the same problem and finally had the time to look at it. I was reading some other posts, when I read try the telephone trick. Leave the camera closed and kinda slam it on a hard surface. I slid the shutter open and focused and it took a pic with no problem!!!

Uji fine pix a 340 card not initialised

Using an A330 - turn on the menu... Burrow down to the set-up menu.  Then choose "format".
I don't know how similar your menus and buttons are to my A330 - but this should be a good starting point.
