Question about Pegasus Technologies Pegasus Kitchen Sink Basket Strainer with Flange 89311

1 Answer

I have a Pegasus sink. The sink baskets that came with the sink have both pulled apart. Is there a replacement sink stopper and basket that fits this 3" whole without changing the whole unit? I have had a hard time finding anything. Too bad they didn't put as much thought into this as they did the great sink. They should be doing a recall and replacement on these parts. This is really a bad deal for such a great product.

Is this the same design? Do they have a metal one that is better constructed? I have bought a couple of strainers just to keep debrie from going down the sink. It seems to be a smaller opening than the standard.

Sure, have you gone to there webb site? And even if not the sink basket assm. are not to bad to replace. You can find them at Home Depot etc. Look in your local area phone book for a plumbing supply store. These stores have it all and may be able to help you with name brand ?'s.

More than likely it's leaking from where the body meets the sink. U might need to pull it apart, clean it up, and re apply plumbers putty to the sink and re apply the body. If you are doing this I would recommend buying a new basket assembly from the hardwear store. Just makes more sence than re using the old one. That is enles it's new. Hope this helps

What is the difference between standard strainer and strainer for food erator? I bought a replacement sink wiht standard strainer, which does not seems to fit garbage disposal

If you need new sink strainer basket for disposal side of sink, you have to buy new disposal.

Each garbage disposal comes with its own strainer basket so that disposal can connect and seal.

First, the disposal strainer basket is installed, and then disposal lifts up and attaches from below.
A rubber gasket comes with new disposal.
Rubber gasket fits between disposal and strainer basket so that disposal seals correctly.

Photo below shows how disposal connects to strainer basket using steel connector ring under the sink.

Both of the Pegasus baskets in my sink have come apart. I put them back together and they come apart again. I would like to purchase new baskets, but can only find the entire drain assembly, which I do...

I know what you mean I had similar problems with my sink strainers, unfortunately is you want to get a good working basket you have to buy the whole drain assembly. You can get some cheap ones at a home store but they will only break again and probably won't match up. What I recommend is swapping out your drains with a drain brand that won't break again like Kohler, Moen, or Elkay. All you need to install a new drain is the new drains, a drain nut removal tool and some plumbers putty. Take the old drain out clean around the whole and install the new one with a ring of plumbers putty around the hole.

I AM LOOKING FOR A THE RING AROUNG THE DRAIN HOLE FOR A PEGASUS BIMINI VANITY

Standard rings can be bought at your local hardware store. It will be easiest to replace the whole stopper assembly instead of trying to match the ring to an existing stopper. You will need some plumbers putty and a pipe wrench.

Stopper came out Pegasus bathroom sink

Pegasus make several models but I'll make an assumption that it has a pop-up plug actuated by a rod just behind the tap head.

If correct....

Under the sink in the cabinet you will see the rod comes down and connects to an adjustment fitting and into the main drain line from the sink. There will be a fitting on the drain line holding the connection. Inside is a metal ball and connecting rod that links to your plug.

Remove the fitting.
Slide the ball and rod partially out.
Put your plug back in.
Engage the rod again (you will need to fiddle a bit here).
Tighten the fitting.
Run water to ensure the fitting is tight and not leaking.

Should be good to go.

I am on my 3rd Pegasus sink strainer (bail-lock basket)in 2 years. The pull handles come off. Is there any way to stop this from happening? Is there any way to contact the manufacturer directly?

Pegasis is a cheap brand of strainer.

I would get a better quality strainer...
ProFlo, moen, franke, Blanco, and even kohler

you might pay a few dollars more, but they will last much longer

What to use plumbers putty or silicone on strainer basket rims installed on granite sinks

you always use plumbers putty on the strainer baskets. you can never use to much just remove the access when tightened. If you use silicone you will have leaks withen a year.
