If they are not cold at all, you may have a compressor or starter problem. if its only somewhat cold, check all fans.

SOURCE: Sears Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Loud humming noise

That sound is usually your icemaker calling for water. you can turn off your icemaker by lifting the little arm on the icemaker. As the icemaker calls for water the valve will be activated and will hum. This sound is usually not very loud. If your valve is making that much noise you may consider replacing the valve. The part number for you water inlet valve is #2315533 The retail price is $60.18 . I do have these on hand and available to ship out today if you need one. Please just let me know. You may also consider replacing your filter if your refrigerator has one. Thanks and I hope this will fixYa

SOURCE: Maytag Performa Bottom Freezer refrigerator making weird noises

This can be due to low supply voltage, causing the compressor thermal overload to trip out. Therefore when this happens the compressor gets hot and it keeps trying to start but fails. It can also be a faulty starter relay, which is located in the conncetion box of the compressor and is very simple to replace.

SOURCE: Amana refrigerators is not staying cold and

What you have is a compressor not starting. It is kicking off on the overload protector. This is caused by a failed relay or the compressor being locked up. Amana does have some models under a recall for that relay. Call (866) 533-9817 to verify. If it is a locked up compressor there may be a 5yr warranty on it. You can call Amana directly to verify that too.

I have a KitchenAid Refrigerator Model Number: KBFC42FTS. Bottom drawer freezer over cools -10 degrees.

Does that unit have a low temperature monitor built in? Maybe that is what is making the noise when your temps dip to -10 degrees. Actually, that is great because the lower the temps the longer you can keep food in the freezer so I would not be overly concerned about that aspect. BTW, have you tried to isolate the source of the humming noise?

Both fridge / freezer are not cooling down. It sounds like the motors are not working. But there is power going in. Also there is a small humming engine noise.

Are you sure the humming noise is from the compressor motor being locked up? It is normal for the compressor motor to make a humming noise when it runs. Make sure the fan in the freezer is also running while the compressor motor is running and replace it if necessary.

You need to defrost the coils in the back of your freezer. You can do this the slow, easy way by simply unplugging the refrigerator for 24 hours. Leave the doors open to ensure everything has the chance to melt.

The fast way to defrost the coils is to turn off the refrigerator and remove the rear panel from the freezer compartment. You will see the evaporator coil completely frozen with ice. Thaw the ice with a hair dryer and make sure you thaw the drain at the bottom of the back wall as well.

When you turn replace the freezer panel and turn the refrigerator back on, it will get cold again.

Freezer makes a humming noise and is not freezing

. Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Humming noise would be your compressor going bad. The noise from the fan is because they are over working to try and keep everything cool

Kenmore top freezer fridge does not cool but freezer works

Turned refrigerator off for 8 hours, let the frost melt and the fan in the freezer worked again. The compressor now only has a soft clunk when it goes off.
