They are usually .60 or .80. mm line size. You use any gasoline that is FRESH ONLY! I can not over stress how many problems that saves you over time. But for that model (and many like it) you must understand its a 2 cycle engine (or 2 stroke) now this is VERY IMPORTANT. Gasoline alone in any 2 stroke engine will destroy it if used alone, without mixing special "2 cycle or 2 stroke" oil with it. Look at the gas cap, or a sticker or a label on the trimmer and you will see a 2 cycle oil to gasoline ratio indication number. That means what it implies, and yes, you mix the two together. Common mix ratios are typically 30:1 (30 parts gas to 1 part oil) Some vary up to 50:1 some as low as 25:1. If its not on the trimmer try the owners manual ITS THERE! generally that means a 2.5 ounce bottle of 2 cycle oil (Not Car Motor oil! There is a big difference in performance for 2 cycle motors. You need to mix 2 cycle oil types only) poured into a 1 gallon container of gas. Shake it up, fill your trimmer with that. Here look at this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuGfDNH6fXk&feature=related (Copy and paste it into your browser'd address bar, then hit enter.) They will show you all you need to know on how to restring the line.

Yes you should be able to replace the rubber tank seal that the fuel line goes through. Be sure to replace the fuel line(s) when you do.

I cleaned my Toro Proline Carburetor and now I can NOT figure out how to re install the linkage. I need a diagram.

That sucks. I know. I'm guessing you have the standard Tecumseh set up that's on all the Toro's I work on (sideways carb setup). I've learned the hard way to take photos; I'll post the one I took. I apologize for the quality; the next one I do, I'll take a high res one but hope this helps ya out. I mean Toro Push Mowers. James

My toro 51970a trimmer has been leaking gas and flooding for the past few weeks, but I could start it. Today, it is gushing gas from the back when I pull the starter string. How do i fix this?

The carburetor needs to be removed and inspected. The malfunctions possibly indicate the need for a repair kit. I've been unable to locate your exact model, but if it has the 2-Stroke engine (gas/oil mix), then you will at the very least..need a gasket and diaghragm kit installed per inspection. There is the possibility that the carburetor needs a complete rebuild and would require the complete rebuild kit. Remove the gas lines (after draining gas). Remove the carb and inspect the screws and tightness of the screws in the 2 end covers. Are the screws tight? If not tighten them up and reinstall, trying to restart the machine. Post back if needed.

I suspect the drive belt, not the Hydro. Especially if the drive belt was never replaced. The belts are known to stretch and wear out over time. It's a cheap part.
