Question about InFocus ScreenPlay 4805 Multimedia Projector

Infocus projector losing color spuradically.

I have an infocus projector. For the most part it works great.. except occasionally, and sometimes continually loses color and goes to black and white only. Sometimes when i turn it off then back on it goes back to color... sometimes for awhile, sometimes not at all. This happens very spuradically.. but always at the WORST TIME. I thought it was my dvd/tuner, but replaced that and it still does it.

Just replaced burnt out bulb in Infocus 4805 projector. Great picture with new bulb but only black and white. Is this a bulb issue or something else in the projector?

This is most likely the color wheel. When the bulb blows, it can damage the color wheel. The color wheel is a wheel composed of thin layers of colored glass that spins in front of the projected image. It is possible to repair it with super glue, but the best way is to try to find a new one to buy.

My Infocus 4805 is just showing the INFOCUS logo and not showing the picture from the TV. all connections are correct but no signal....help

Powering On
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector is having a hard time powering on or doesn't power on at all, it could be one of two things. Due to the extreme temperature of the lamp that causes the temperature of the projector to rise, every InFocus 4805 projector has a cooling system. Check your projector's cooling solution, as it may need to be replaced. Also check the projector's fan---if the fan doesn't spin, the unit will not turn on. If the problem is the fan, you'll have to get it replaced. You can do this at the same place you bought your projector.
  • The Lamp
  • If your InFocus 4805 Projector powers on but does not project any light, the lamp will need to be replaced. All projector lamps must be replaced at some point---how often usually depends on how much use the device gets. Simply order a replacement lamp, unscrew the old one and screw the new one in. The projector will then work like new.
  • Color Wheel
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector powers on and is displaying images but the colors on the images appear warped or are not in the proper places, your "color wheel" will need to be replaced. The color wheel is a small device that essentially acts like a prism. Light is projected through it and it displays the appropriate colors on screen the way they appear in the original video source. Order a replacement color wheel that fits your model and use your instruction manual as a guide as you swap the old one out and put the new one in.

I have an INFOCUS projector in my classroom. Wonder if there is a ''freeze'' function so that I can show one image and work on my computer in the meantime. Product support at Infocus is a joke. Model...

The freeze function on the older remotes seem to work on most of their current projectors. I just verified that on a screenplay 7200.
The remote you may want to find is a model IRC-TC. You can find them on ebay occasionally.

Black and white specks from InFocus X1 projector

if you can get a menu when you press the menu button, reset the settings to factory default. if you don't get a menu, the color wheel or the dmd chip is bad. either way, you'll have to replace the entire optical engine. and unfortunately, infocus no longer has any more in stock.

Infocus 4805 color mostly red when using componant cable

This problem can be caused by several things.
Most commonly a poor connection involving one of the rca component connectors or a failure involving the component output of the source.

However what also works like magic is to press the auto image button that's on the projector itself and it will re-sync / re-define correctly the component source and presto it looks good again.

A power brown out can cause this to occur and a simple "auto image" reset will fix it!

    Good Luck!

    Colors showing red on screen

    Hi Stella,
There is a button on the projector called "Auto Image"
Most people don't realize it's even there.
Press it while you are seeing this problem and most likely the projector will figure out the image issue and all will be well.
Note: this feature is nowhere in the menu(s)

    Good Luck!
