SOURCE: top works bottom doesn't

I have XL44 oven JGBP26. I replaced the glow ignitore on the oven but still will not glow. I carfully tested the current to the ignitore and showed 125 volts, I also tested the resistance on the control valve lead and to ignitore and showed 1100.

You will have to replace the switch which controls that burner. The electrical contacts inside the switch have welded themselves together. Note: Many replacement switches do not look exactly like the original, but instructions are generally included with the new switch.

The burners and its components are totally seperate from oven and there is no controlling shared between them. The problem can be many. Can be the timer control that is locked and not allowing any oven functions. Can be the electricline feeding the oven portion. Can be the oven temp control that tells bake and broil to begin functioning. Can be oven lockout. This is a function that you can turn off by holding the clock or other pad button for 3 seconds. Check your manual to see if I am correct about which touch pad to hold. This is a safety feature that sometimes gets activated and there's no flashing lights telling you about it. Goodluck<Macgivor

GE model JVM5503 (1980): light and exhaust fan work, but touch pad does not respond to pressing buttons and therefore no functions can be initiated.

That would be a problem with your "touch control" but it is no longer available.

The oven will have to be replaced.

Sounds like it had a good run.

My GE Spectra gas oven worked fine last night. Today, the oven will not heat. The broiler and the burners work fine, as does the clean feature. But nothing when the oven is turned on.

Are you sure the cleaning process works, because usually when the oven wont work, the clean process wont work. If you are correct, then the problem is most likely the control panel not responding to the bake setting. This will require either a new touch panel or a new control circuit board.

F1 error/touch panel not working on GE Monogram Dual Oven

Usually, the F1 means that either the touch pad or the oven control (also called clock or ERC) is defective and needs to be replaced. If this fault code cannot be canceled, replace the oven control (also called clock or ERC), touch pad, or both.

I recommend a service call for this repair.

Gas ignitor

I just read fixya's Tips & Tricks, posted by jsrocks516: "js" does rock, I found: In there he/she suggested--before replacing the igniter--tapping on it. Just now called my wife and had her tap on the igniter (not too hard) with the handle of a long screwdriver. That's all it took. Instantly, our oven now works, again. For finding this no-cost and fast solution in fixya, my wife is going to specially reward me when I get home tonight.

Lighting the oven

Control Lockout (on some models)
Your control will allow you to lock out the
touch pads so they cannot be activated when
touched or cleaning the glass panel.
To lock the controls:
Touch the 9 and 0 touch pads at the
same time for 3 seconds until the
control beeps twice. The display will
show LOC continuously and the time
of day if not blacked out.
NOTE: All cooking and timing functions will be
cancelled when locking out the control.
To unlock the control, touch the
9 and 0 touch pads at the same time
for 3 seconds until the control beeps
twice, and LOC will be removed from
the display.
NOTE: Some models have a Control Lockout
pad. Touch and hold it for 3 seconds to
lock/unlock.
Gas/Control Lockout (on some models)
Your control will allow you to lock out the
surface burners, oven burners and control
panel so they cannot be activated.
To lock/unlock the controls:
Turn all surface burners off.
Touch and hold the Gas/Control
Lockout pad for 3 seconds until the
display shows LOC ON.
To unlock the control, touch and hold the
Gas/Control Lockout pad for 3 seconds
until the display shows LOC OFF.
When this feature is on and the touch pads
are touched, the control will beep and the
display will show LOC ON.
The control lockout mode affects all
controls. No controls will work when this
feature is activated.
The adjustment will be retained in memory
after a power failure.
