On the system tray by the time is there a speaker with a red line through it? If so right click on this and open volume control and make sure no mutes are checked in the controls that come up.

next if that doesn't apply, click on start, right click on my computer, left click on properties, select hardware tab, select device manager, under audio devices are there any exclamation points or is there a question mark for unknown audio devices?

Check if volume is muted in Windows. Check the bottom right hand corner and double-click on the speaker symbol. If not muted, turn the volume up from there.

The microphone is not working on my Compaq c700 What's wrong with it, I change three mics still not worked. Setting properties still not worked!

ok have to enable it in the volume manager ...double clic on the volume icon tray ( lower right ) and will appear a window with a few volume controls ...In the left upper there is a option choice and choose properties... in there you have to select the mic from a list ...its volume will be displayed on the initial window after that ...check not to be muted...and give it volume has to work now ....
by the way I assumed that ya have an xp on it ...but its about the same for vista have to go on volume controls from sounds...and see the playback properties...and volume and see not to be muted...
I also noticed that dowgrading from vista to xp ...for some HD laptops the mic problems are present ...It something with the driver ....if that what i said not working ... look for a more compatible sound driver ..or ...choose a usb mic ...maybe will do the trick

1st check would be to see if the mute button is active on the soft keys if not. go into the control pannel switch to classic view open "sound" ( for windows vista and "sounds and audio devices" ( for windows XP) make sure that all of the mute tick boxes at the bottom of the volume control are un-ticked, hope this helps

Hp dv71245dx cannot remove from muted state.

Go to Control panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Volume. Check that Device Volume is at least halfway across the slider and that Mute is unchecked. Go to Advanced and make sure that nothing is mute. Go to Speaker Volume and set the sliders at least halfway across the slider. Go to Advanced, and in Speakers setup choose Laptop Stereo Speakers (if that's what you have). Go to Performance and choose Restore Defaults. Click Apply > OK

plz do inform if this has sorted out the problem
all the best

Volume cannot be changed.Full Volume even if reduced or muted

You need to first find out what chipset your on-board card uses my friend. Check all the documentation to find out. You will need the exact set. Now search the net for an updated set of drivers that matches your operating system (XP SP1/2 etc). Now go to device manager and delete anything which has sound connections (MIDI Interfaces, MICs etc..). Now click the 'scan for changes' icon in device manager. Use the new drivers you downloaded.

No system sound on my HP Pavilion dv1000

Have you checked device manager? You may try reinstalling the driver through device manager? Check the audio properties in sound. you May be try running a virus/spyware scan. When something suddenly goes out its either dead, corrupt driver or virus/spyware/highjacker etc. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
