Have the newest version of bitpim
make sure you have the drivers for the USB cable you are using.
open bitpim
let it find the phone(it will come up as other CDMA phone)
click FILESYSTEM on the left at the bottom
expand the folder
click dload
right click on lg_mysound.dat and save it to your desktop
after you save it right click lg_mysound.dat in bitpim and delete it
now click brew
click media
click lk
click ms

now drop the songs you want to use as ringers in this file. they will automaticlly load into your phone. it isnt the fastest process but it works.

after they are done loading onto the phone, unhook USB cable from computer, power the phone off and then back on.

the items you just transferred with now be in the my audio file where they need to be to assign them for individual ringers.

NOTE:

everytime you wnat to add new ringers to the phone you have to complete all the steps above, even the deleting that one certain file. not a very hard process and has worked well for me.

good luck and happy mp3 loading songs into the phone as ringers.

If you have someone send you an audio file through text/pics...

save the file, go to settings on your phones menu, go to sound, go to ringers, go to shuffle, select list and it should take you to the ringtone list and select the song you want.

found that out from a friend who has the same phone as me.. but it only works if someone sends you a ringtone in a message...

sadly i found this out after i bought the data cable

Due to DRM restrictions you can't use certain MP3 files as ringtones. However, with Web Access you use any song you want as a ring tone.

This explains it step-by-step

I just got this phone (alltel) and we've figured out a few things:

when loading music onto sd card , put files not only in "music" folder , put some in "audio" folder, they wont set as ringtones or even show as a choice unless you put them in "audio"

another problem most people have: cant get pc to recognize phone- i formatted the card, then put it in my sansa 1gig mp3 player , dragged my files on & voila' ..i took the card out of mp3 player & it works on the phone..this was an easy fix to a problem that tons of people are having.

getting ringtones .. ventones.com upload your own music, make the ringtone..click the "send to phone button" , then open browser & type in the address & it will auto dwnld ..very easy
you can set each contact in your addy book to have their own tone.

the only thing you CANT do is set individual ringtones for texts, you can only have 1 for all the texts

SOURCE: lg scoop

Simple solution, Alltel belives and enforces digital copyright management, while you can listen to your favorite tones and music, you will NOT be able to use them as ringtones, or use them with any of the features of the phone other then playing the tunes for entertainment. The only way to use files as ringtones is to purchase the files from alltel, or use their realtone jukebox, etc.

Sorry about the news , but welcome to ALLTEL!

I just got an LG ENV3. I removed my MicroSD card from my LG Scoop and placed it in the new phone however none of my pics or music showed up. I know they are on the card because when I pulled it from the...

This is Jon from THE CELL PHONE GUY in Sioux Falls SD, this issue is a formatting issue for your sd card its usually not a problem when you go from a LG to another LG but i can see it happening. The best way to do it without loosing all your data is to sync your Scoop up with your PC and transfer all your data to your computer off the SD card. and Then do the Vise Versa with your Envy 3 sync it to your PC and transfer from the computer to your phone. Make sure that after you put all the data from the scoop to your pc that you put the sd card in the envy and make sure you go into the memory settings and format the card to the envy. This will delete all the data on the card but luckily you should have already put all that on your computer. after the card has been formated then connect the computer to the envy and transfer the data back. This should be the best way to do it without loosing any of your data.

Problem downloading onto memory card

Same thing here. I put the card into the phone and then hooked phone up to the computer and it recognized it. If you're downloading songs for use as a walkman, the default setting for the card will work. I got the card to make my own ringtones and had to set it to 'mass storage' in order to drag my tones in. I found the program for downloading songs directly to the phone too confusing for me.

Putting music on an LG Scoop.

I believe these phones will only use a 512kb memory card. I could wrong. The phone directory may only hold 30 songs. There may be a limit on how many songs and how much memory the phone will hold.

Lg shine - downloading music from my laptop

If you want to put music files from your laptop onto your LG Shine, you can either use a LG USB cable or a Micro SD Card. The Micro SD card will probably need an additional adapter to have it big enough for your Laptop or PC slot. Once the music files are on the Micro SD card, insert the card into your LG Shine and go to My Stuff". Then, select "Audio and ringtones" and select the file on your memory card. Press the "Options" button and select the copy function and paste it into your phone.
