Question about Polaroid 7'' Portable DVD Player

Polaroid PDM-0711 DVD player won't play DVD's but still plays CD's

I bought my niece this player for Christmas and it stop recognizing DVD's 2 months later. It spins the disc then tells me there is no disc in the player. Doesn't matter which DVD I try. BUT if I put in an audio CD the player plays it no problems.
What could be causing this and is there a solution other than taking it in the be repaired?

I've got the same problem, I turn my player on it's side until it reads the disc. more of a band-aid solution.

Player comes on but will not play, on the screen it has loading disk and then goes to no disk

That means the disk is corrupted. Please make sure that data is burnt properly to the disk.

Porable dvd plays in black and white

This could be that you are using NTSC or american region DVDs or the connections that you are using if you use a SCART to composite video incorrectly then you will get a B&W signal into your TV

This is called "audio transfer saturation. Rarely happens but will when there is constant use of player. Drain saturation by removing battery (if attached), With the power adapter still attached, turn off player and unplug adapter from wall for several hours. Saturation should discharge back through you adapter. Disconnect adapter from player before plugging back into wall. You may have to do this periodically when constant music is played.
