Help, I am experiencing problems with a dell laptop

Help, I am experiencing problems with a dell inspiron 1000, yes I know it's old as dirt but my aunt loves it.

So yesterday after accidentally removing windows service pack 2, My aunt unplugged the laptop without shutting it down correctly and with a non responding internet explorer page still open.

This morning when she tried to start it up, it started up as it normally would and after a few seconds the (internet explorer page is not responding) message popped up. after she clicked the (do not send error report button) all of the settings and icons on the laptop disappeared and it was just the blue background screen. She tried to go to system restore but when she clicks on accessories in the start up menu the computer freezes up.

She's tried accessing the control panel, help and support, and tried my computer but the laptop just freezes up and stays that way until you turn it off and turn it back on. And after you turn it back on it does the same thing (internet explorer send error report message) pops up everytime you start it. Even if you send error report the computer still goes blank or freezes up.

She reinstalled windows service pack 2 and microsoft malicious software removal tool to make sure it wasn't malware or virus or anything. And after a McAfee security and virus scan found nothing harmful.

Does anyone know what could be wrong or experienced something like this. If so please help!

Tune up your system using RegInOut system utility and if problem persists you should repair Windows. Thanks

yes, you can always open the programs and features section in Control Panel to uninstall utilities or programs you do not actually use or need. you can also delete old files like video, audio, pictures and documents no longer need to free up some space. after doing so, it would help to run disk defragmenter to organize the available space on the drive. Depending on the size of yuor hard drive, you can also replace it with a larger one or use an external drive to save files and use hard drive for program files and the operating system.

u need to reset the bios to factory defaults..this would fix your problem
