Blue filter replacement

Is this something that I can do myself or is a service tech required? Also, what do you think I'm looking as as repair cost?

You can do it yourself. You will have to go into the light engine to get to the filters and they are glued in at the bottom with one very small screw holding in the top of each filter. But you only have to replace the blue one. Very important not to get any finger prints on the filter. If so it cannot be cleaned and must be replaced again. Just be careful with the LCD cube that is surrounded by the color filters, it is very fragile and hard to get a replacement for that. But yes you can do it.

Sony KP-65WV600 10/26/2002 rear projection TV. Blue gun went out and glows orange. Convergence chip is out (can not adjust convergence). Sony refuses to help saying my model is not covered by any offer....

The convergence repair if done is possible do it your self; If you have also a bad blue picture tube or some issue related to the tubes then the set is beyond any reasonable repair.,

not always easy to replace a set that cost in its day a lot of money but it is now about 9 years old and that is about average to this type of set.

Air filter need service and tv shuts off after 1 min. I have attempted to clean all the dust from the tv by removing the rear cover and using shop air to clean. I am wondering wether this is going to be...

I have the same problem with my 50" panasonic PT-50LCX64 tv. I have a call into a technician to see if it is going to be a cost effective repair, I am very unhappy with their technical support. I also have removed the bace and cleaned everything back there and blew it out. Their techs. say it is an internal filter that has to be cleaned by a service center or dealer. They will not say where the filter is at so I can clean it myself.

I am having a convergence issue with my Panasonic Rear Projection Television. Is this something I can repair myself? If I did hire someone to fix this for me, about how much would this cost?

I am the right person to talk to.

If convergence problem total parts cost on EBAY would be under 25 dollars AND I HAVE START TO FINISH, STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DO IT YOURSELF PERSON TO DO THIS REPAIR.

THE instructions tell everything you will need and the best way to get at the two STK-392-110 CHIPS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED.

Repair involves getting at and replacing both chips, it does involve being able to solder--not hard on this set.

If you want the instructions here or provide a email I will if you rate this solution very helpful give them to you for free, they are based on my actual experience doing hundreds of these sets with this problem.

See attached photos of what the chips look like and what a typical convergence problem looks like.

Just had service man out. said TV needs Red/Blue computer chips. said cost was $400.00 I told him to pond sand. need part number and diagram of how to replace chip I'll do it myself for $10.00

First: Go to Ebay and then to search, then advanced search, then to search by seller---look for : sewsales55 he has the chips.

I do this here for free so if it helps you give me a vote here I will give you instructions on this repair in your set--not real hard if you know how to solder etc.

Is it a fair fee?

I own a tv repair shop in jacksonville, fl and I know that with that model we always send the chassis to mitsubishi for an overhall this would cost around $900 but we send it to mitsubishi, we dont do it ourselves because there are many parts that should be replaced that only mitsubishi can get, they dont sell them to anyone. BUT your problem just needs the 2 caps in the power supply replaced for now. in the future you might need the rest of the work done but my thoughts are if its not broke dont fix it! So i would take the chassis out and replace the 2 caps in the power board and be done with it untill it brake again. If you cannot get the chassis out send me an email and i will give you some help.

Sony KP-46WT510 46 in. ic problem

If you can solder it should be an easy fix for about 50.00 You need two Convergence ICs STK392-560 the link I am posting has replacement ICs and provide free tech support by instant messageing as well as instalation instructions with pics on how to change the ICs. A repair shop will charge between 4 and 6 hundred to do the job which is about an hour. I would also suggest getting about 6 of the 4.7ohm 1/2watt resistors also as sony will sometimes blow a couple with the ICs but the repair tech will help you find the open one if there are any. Heres the link to the site.

the problem is convergance the amplifiers (two of them) have failed. posibly some resistors or pico fuses are bad along with them. they need to be replaced then realiegn the convegance. the cost of repair may be $200.00 to $350.00 depending on the tech you get.

You could replace it yourself. I had it done recently and the local repair shop charge $400 to do it (including cost of the chip).

Sony kp57hw40 52 in. televison

This can be caused by a problem within the "D" board or a bad CRT. If the D board can be fixed, that would be the least expensive repair. Even so, this will require a service tech. Depending on the cost of an estimate, you could call a service tech and explain that the TV may need a "D board" and try to get it serviced. If the D board replacement does not fix the problem, the CRT would be next. Maybe the service tech would allow you to pay a small fee for the experiment and a fixed service cost if it is the D board.
