First, you should have a good home or small office network.
Second, your network should have a wireless router.
Third, you should have a wireless print server for your printer
Last, your laptop should have a WiFi.

The setup should be like this:

The wireless router should be connected to your network (modem). You need to make sure that you can connect your laptop to the wireless router without any problem.

Next, access the web utility of your wireless router, write down the SSID, wireless channel, and encryption (if there is any encryption like WEP, WPA or WPA-PSK) into a piece of paper.

Connect the printer directly to the laptop (using USB cable), and make sure that the printer driver is properly installed, and you can print directly connected to the laptop. Then install the utility of the wireless print server to the computer.

After that, connect the printer to the wireless print server. Access the utility of the wireless print server, type in the SSID, set the wireless channel, and create an encryption. (the SSID, channel and encryption that is setup in your wireless router). The information that you need to put in your wireless print server's web utility should be the same as the router's information. So that they will communicate with each other.

Let me know if you have any other concerns.

Thank you and good luck!

Brother MFC-440CN printer will not see new cartridge

Your print-heads, which take the ink, and spray it onto the paper, have become "clogged". Run a "print-head-cleaning-cycle" to try to unclog those jets.

Brother mfc-440cn printer printing crooked

There is the possibility that the scanner assembly has jumped a tooth on the drive belt on one side so the scanner is just slightly crooked. To correct this the scanner assembly would have to be taken apart enough to correctly line the assembly back up. I wouldn't recommend that you try this yourself unless you have some experience at this sort of thing. Contact Brother for an authorized repair center near you for assistance.

How to connect wirelessly mfc-440cn printer.... i need help, please

I checked and this printer is not in itself a wireless device. This means you will need some sort of "wireless router" to plug the printer into.

Go to your favorite electronics store and get a decent wireless router. Linksys is a good brand and reasonably priced. You'll also need a small section of network cable to plug into your printer and into the wireless router.

Once you have this set up, you'll be able to take your laptop or other wireless device and "see" the printer on the wireless network.

Good luck! Don't forget to rate the posts!

My MFC-440CN printer has gone offline and how to i get it back online

I had this same problem. What I did was I deleted the printer from the control panel. I then clicked on add a printer and it added the printer back. I printed a test page and it worked fine.

My printer is set up wirelessly on a D-Link router.

It isn't a network printer since it only has a USB interface (no LAN port)

but you may purchase a print server if you want to share the printing function on your network (only the printing function can be shared). But some multifunction printers do not work with print servers due to driver issues. There are some users on the net who were able to make this work with an IOGEAR multifunction print server.

There is one Brother multifunction network printer that you may want to check:

The mfc cant print any mirrow images by itself.

But why do you need to print a mirrow? as far as I remember is the print straight right thru. The foil has to be turned onto the shirt before you run the iron?!!!

Networking a Printer on a wireless network

Deanna, if the mfc is not that old, take it back to the dealer and ask for changing it to a wireless printer (extension: CW). Do you really need the fax function? If not, try this printer: DCP 750CW. If yes, get the MFC 845 CW. The CN printer have to be connected directly to router or pc/laptop.
