Ps3 will not start up When I turn it on the screen reads, "Cannot start. The correct hard disk was not found"

I take it you didn't take the hard drive out ? 1st take out the hard drive and put it back in.. it might just need to be pushed in.. if that doesn't work go out to walmart and buy a cheap laptop hard drive.. put it in and format it. If that works you know its a bad hard drive. You can keep the walmart hard drive or just take it back to get something better. If that does not work it might be something you can not fix.. call sony

Iturn on it says cannot start the correct Hard disk was not found

Open up your ps3 on the right site with a small flat screw driver.
Turn out the blue screw with a small cross screw driver, slide the hard drive to the left and pull it to warts of you, note it is a 2'5 inch sata notebook harddrive.
Hook it up to a pc or mac to run a diagnostic check on it to see if it is crashed, by the way you're able to tell by the sound it makes if it crashed.

PS3- cannot start. Correct hard disk not found.

when your ps3 is standing upright the tall way tip it over and look at the bottom there should be a plate that says something about the hard drive. get a flat screwdriver and pry on the right side of the plate. The hard drive is directly behind that plate and is secured by a blue screw. take out the screw and flip out the little u shaped handle and slide it to the right and pull out your hard drive. Try blowing out all the connections and putting it back in hope this helps

It sounds like your hard drive may be damaged. The Playstation uses a standard 2.5' hard drive and is user replaceable. Best Buy ,for example, sells these types of drives for $60-120 depending on the size of the drive (Number of GB) you want. Lots of guides online as to how to replace your hard drive, it's only 3 screws.

Ps3 trouble

You need a new hard drive. Just take out the one you have and get the same exact one. You can get them on eBay for about $20-50 (US). Just be very careful not to mess up the screws that hold the hard drive onto the holder.
OR
If your PS3 is still in warranty then call Sony.

Ihope this helps. Good luck!!

Ps3 Can't start - correct hard disk not found

I do believe that it is a firmware issue and not a hard drive issue. If it where a true hard drive failure, your hard drive would be completely useless. Since this error only happens at start up i believe this is what happens.

1) PS3 starts-up and displays the "wave" and plays the "music"
2) The hard drive spins and the PS3 firmware is looking for the "files" on the hard drive for start-up
3) If the start-up files are not found in a certain amount of time, this message is displayed.

I may be wrong but this is my guess.
