Question about Broksonic SC975 19 in. TV/DVD Combo
How do you get the "closed caption" option to turn off? I have gone into the captioning section and ACC says "Off" and OCC says "Off". Also, when I push the caption button on the remote it only turns off on the TV screen for a few seconds, then comes back on. The TV was given to me and I have no manual - Thanks for your help!

Try to press buttons simultaneosly for a few seconds to get to the menu, i.e. volume up and down together, channel down/up together etc etc
That very well may get you to MENU

With assistance from another user on FixYa, they mentioned that if you hold down the volume or channel button together, that it might help. I tried different variations and figured out if you hold down the up and down volume buttons at the same time for serveral seconds, that the volume settings reset and the close caption turns off.

Buy universal remote for $10-$20 at radioshack, mcm.com, box stores, etc. Check to make sure your model is listed and/or ask if its returnable if it doesn't work with our set.

You should be able to do that with your remote. Just look for the `caption' or `c.c.` button and try using it again. You may have to push it several times to completely turn it off as it may cycle through the different types of captioning systems before reaching the `off' setting.
If you don't see it on the front of the remote, you may have a remote with a second compartment and the keypad may flip or slide open to allow you access to the additional buttons.
