Hi ,

Do something disconnect any external devices like usb storage devices, printer, internet then disconnect the power adaptor and the battery ,there should not be any flow of electricity to the laptop .Now press and hold the power button for atleast 30 seconds and then turn the laptop on and see if it takes you to the desktop .If the same thing happens then turn it off and then when you turn it on tapp the F8 key till you get the advance boot menu page then select safe mode ?enter?wait till you get the log on screen if it is XP then click on administrator and if it is Vista put in the password. If it takes you to the desktop then do a restore.Go to start?all programs ?accessories?system tools and then system restore. Will take time for the page to load up then select restore my computer to an earlier time ?click next?select the date form the calander when you think that the computer was working fine and the date that you select has to be in bold click on next next to exit from the wizard. It reboots the computer and then takes the computer to the normal screen .
Hope this post is helpful if not then pls let me no

All the best

Desktop keeps refreshing

Sounds like malware, try rebooting and enter safe mode with networking (repeatedly hitting F8 as soon as it starts rebooting will bring up this menu) . Install ADWcleaner and run through the scan then reboot into normal mode

Contact the manfuractuor of the company that produced the laptop and see if they will send you a copy. If not then buy a copy or whaterver operating system you want and load it. Then get on the internet and down load the drivers.

Acer Aspire one 205 freezes after re-booting

Do you mean the desktop is shown and then it freezes-meaning the things (folders etc) doesn't load? If so, you can try the CTRL+SHIFT+ESC button to show task manager where u can open run and type explorer to show the desktop folders and icons. But, this is caused by virus so be sure to clear it off.
