Question about Maytag MAH8700A Front Load Washer

1 Answer

The display is EE. the top line of the first E is not dissplayed.

Water is standing around the machine. The water is not coming from any of the hoses that are visable from the outside of the machine. I am not sure if the code is right or the LED is out for the top line of the first E.

Is it draining at all? My whirlpool threw a fault code today and it wasnt draining. I had to remove the front cover (at the bottom) there were 3 screws. I got a large heavy duty trash bag, stuck the top end under the washer, got my shopvac and then slowly turned the cover on the filter head. The water came out, I sucked as much as possible into the shop vac, the rest was captured in the plastic bag. When the water all drained, I pulled out the filter to find that it was full of lint from the chenille throw I had washed last nite. I cleaned it out, made sure the hoses were clear, and replaced the filter and the cover. It now works fine, and am doing my load right now. Good luck with your problem! Believe me, it stinks to have to play fixit on Mother's day!

Look for a leaking hose on the pump housing. May be just a loose clamp.

Something must be clogged because the water wont flow into the machine and sprays around the top of the hose end at the washer. I checked the little filter under the hose and its clean.

There should be lights blinking, indicating a fault.
If this unit is brand new call warranty service.
If this unit has run in the past you will need either a new intake valve or new computer sequencer board.

The washer smells funny. Like mildew or something. No water standing. Seems to drain.

Probably has some standing water in the pump hoses as well as the drain hoses If you do not use the machine often, then some water is left in the drain hoses and upon evaporation it may do what you smell. Pour some bleach in the tub, with water and let stand for 15 min. put it on rinse and let drain and do the smell test again.

Update on Neptune TL extraction problem

Mike,

No problem just will help me and other linked to on going troubleshooting efforts. I did the same thing when I started.

I was logged in under my other forum name dh1200s any way this statement ""They should be stiff to rotate thru the transmission gearing but will move."" is wrong I can't rotate the tumblers by hand but check for that free wheeling tumbler. I'll add a comment about your request ""Is there a way to test the tumbler speed or to run the machine with the door open to see if they are spinning?"" Yes do you have the Service Manual?

Here it is;
FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

Look in the SM it will show you how to raise the washer top from the base. Just make sure the washer is not signaling for water fill or you spray some water around. I’m going to post this under my FAV6800AWDIY forum name.

If you feel the need to tear down the drain line system here are a couple of pics to start ya off. Make sure when you remove the drain line from the Sump Cap on reinstall is snug up against the Sump Cap. To remove the Sump Cap to empty a coin or two and other possible debris it will twist CW to remove. When you reinstall watch you don’t pinch the rubber O-Ring. Place some towels under the Sump Cap to catch excess water.

Sump Cap and some stuff I found in mine but I had no wet clothes issue just doing DIY maintenance.

Better shot of the Drain Pump lay out and exit hose. I was doing a Outer Tub Bearing replacement. It will be a tight work area. That's why I came up with the Sump Cap filter screen.

Indesit IDL40 Slim line

Pull the machine out and tip it carefully to one side, if water comes out from the base then the problem is the union on the upper feed pipe. Remove the top inner dish rack and twist the star shaped nut clockwise gently! Make sure you have got as much of the water out as possible, stand the unit back up and turn put it into cycle.

ok. our machine has done this for 6 months or so, it was ok for the 1st 6 months. i have checked and cleaned and unblocked and gone bloody crazy. today i found the fault and fixed quickly.

the installer stuffed up. the waster water hose must head up and be fixed just under your bench top, then come down hill to your exit/spiggot/drain attachment.

ours was just lying more or less at floor level coming up to the spiggot. so whenever the waste water pump switched off, water would run back into the machine, hence the OE error, and also dirty water with food would then get chucked around it what should have been a clean rinse.

a diagram of the waste water house and how it should be done is in the manual.

i just about blew $1500 on a new machine !!

Water leaks during rinse cycle

MAKE SURE TO FLUSH-OUT DRAIN LINE. WATER IF IT IS DRAINING TO SLOW WILL START LEAKING AROUND THE LOWER PART OF THE WASHER WHERE THERE IS A SAFTEY OVER FLOW ... IF YOURS IS A FREE STANDING TOP LOADER THE DRAIN HOSE IS IETHER SEPERATE OR FLOWS WITH A CHECK VALVE THAT HOOHS RIGHT TO YOUR FAUCET. MAKE SURE THE CHECK VALVE AT THE FAUCET CONNECTION IS FREE AND NOT STUCK.
