Try downloading the update manually from MS website and deploy it. Also an error code is generated; research about it.

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A Code 43 error message indicates that the Microsoft Windows operating system has stopped a hardware device because it has failed. Although the problem might be a technical fault with the hardware device, troubleshooting the device's software drivers will often fix the problem. Troubleshoot a Code 43 error from the Windows Device Manager or by downloading updated device drivers.

Windows displays the Code 43 error message and prevents the hardware device from activating when one of the drivers controlling the hardware notifies the operating system that the device has failed. If your computer displays a Code 43 error, Microsoft advises you to first check the hardware device's documentation for advice on common problems and how to troubleshoot the device. This may include reinstalling the device. If the hardware seems to be working properly, try troubleshooting the device drivers. b> Device Troubleshooting Wizard b> Windows includes an integrated troubleshooting wizard for hardware devices. To access this feature, open the "Devices and Printers" folder from the Start menu. Right-click the device and then select "Troubleshoot" from the context menu. Windows automatically checks the device and attempts to detect and automatically fix problems. You might need to click the "Yes" button during the procedure to download software or driver updates. Update Drivers With Windows Update b> Updating hardware device drivers with the Windows Update tool can also fix hardware problems. Click "Check for Updates" in the left pane of the Windows Update tool that you can access from the computer's Control Panel. Windows Update displays the number of important, recommended and optional updates in the main pane. On the "Select Updates You Want to Install" page, click and enable the check box for the hard drivers that you want to install. Click "OK" to automatically download and install the items. b> Update Drivers With the Device Manager b> If you don't want to rely on Windows Update, you can also manually update drivers for the problematic hardware with the "Device Manager" tool that you can access from the Control Panel. Double-click on the faulty hardware, which the Device Manger might label with yellow-black exclamation mark icon. Click the "Driver" tab in the dialog window, and then click the "Update Driver" button. Windows checks for driver updates and, if found, automatically installs the new drivers. You might need to restart your computer at the end of this process. b> Service and Repair b> If you can't resolve the problem by following the recommendations in the manufacturer's help documentation, or by troubleshooting the device and updating drivers with Windows, you might need to contact the manufacturer to arrange for the device to be serviced or repaired. You should find service and repair information or contact details in the device's user manual or in the support section of the manufacturer's website. Rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html Windows XP/Vista/7/8
it might take some time being a freeware driver solution note: it will find all of your outdated drivers This is a free driver solutions.
This will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point.

Click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated.

Hope this helps.

Well heres a much easier answer if you have the Vista DVD or if you can borrow 1. Boot the computer from the DVD and select the upgrade option. Will take a little while to reinstall but none of your programs or documents will be touched. Only thing which will be totally lost is all the updates which is a good thing in your case. After then you can try doing the updates again. As you may have heard Vista does have a lot of bugs. If this all still fails on updates either reinstall and forget updates or do as i did go and buy a Windows 7 operating system its great. ,...Cheers from Scott

Please start the Computer and keep tapping the F8 key to access the Windows Advanced options.
Select Safemode.
Once you are in Safemode, follow the below procedure:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

Note On a Windows Vista-based computer, click Start, type services.msc in the Start Search box, right-click services.msc, and then click Run as administrator.
  2. In the Services (Local) pane, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Stop.
  3. Minimize the Services (local) window.
  4. Select all the contents of the Windows distribution folder, and then delete them.

Note By default, the Windows distribution folder is located in the drive:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder. In this location, drive is a placeholder for the drive where Windows is installed.
  5. Make sure that the Windows distribution folder is empty, and then maximize the Services (local) window.
  6. In the Services (Local) pane, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Start.
  7. Restart the computer, and then run Windows Update again.
  8. That should resolve the issue.

Downloaded windows automatic update stuck on 3 of 3 for last few days. tried last known good config does nothing, i always return to updating 3 of 3 cannot get my comp to do anything else. help desperately...

An issue has been identified by Microsoft that, after installing Windows Updates, a Computer displays a Configuring updates: stage 3 of 3. 0% complete message, reboots, comes back to that message again, and repeats the cycle. This problem occurs when Windows Update is attempting to install update 937287.

Follow this procedure to resolve the error:

1. Remove all connected peripheral Devices from the Computer.

2. Press and hold the power button until the Computer completely shuts down.

3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

4. Leave the Computer without any power for at least 30 seconds.

5. Reconnect the Computer to the power supply and then turn it back on.

6. Allow the Computer to start normally.

NOTE 1: Once the Computer has completely started into the Operating System, Windows Updates should automatically finish installing the update. If the update again fails to install completely, restart the Computer in Safe Mode (by tapping the F8 Kay at Start-up) and use the System Restore feature to return the Computer to a time before the issue started.

Click the Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.

NOTE 2: To avoid this issue, obtain and install update 937287 from the Microsoft Download Center separately from all other updates on the Windows Update site. Install the update that applies to your version of Windows Vista so that you can successfully install future updates.

For more information about this error, refer to the Microsoft KB Article ID 949358.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you try to sync files to any iPod in iTunes on a Mac or Windows computer, you might see the following -69 error message:
"Attempting to copy to the disk failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)"This error occurs when iTunes tries to send files to your iPod, but a file (or files) is unusable (something is wrong with it).

To figure out which file (or files) is causing the error, update to the latest version of iTunes and then do this:
  1. Control-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) on your iPod icon in the iTunes Source pane, then choose Sync Songs from the shortcut menu.
  2. Watch the display at the top of the iTunes window while your iPod is being updated. The name of the problematic file should appear in the display right before the error appears. Then remove the bad file from the list of songs to be synced to your iPod:
  3. Select the iPod in the iTunes Source pane.
  4. Click the Settings tab.
  5. Select the "Only sync checked items" checkbox (please note that this checkbox is only available for an iPod configured to update automatically).
  6. Select the appropriate item under Library in the sidebar and find the bad file in the list. (For example, if the file in question was a song you would select Music in the iTunes Source pane. If it were a video you would select Movies or TV Shows in the sidebar.)
  7. Deselect the checkbox next to the file name.
  8. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to update your iPod. If you have multiple problematic files in your iTunes library, you may need to repeat the other steps to remove them too.
To prevent future issues, you should delete the unusable files from your iTunes library, then restore them from a backup or reimport them from a CD.

If you're not able to isolate to any single file or if another iPod works with the same songs, then disconnect any other devices connected to USB or FireWire and try again. If the issue continues, then then try resetting your iPod. If the issue continues, then restore your iPod.

WIndows XP won't install/ recognise new hardware

Ok firstly can you see the DVD drive in BIOS or any USB Devices Within Bios ?

If yes , we have just solved your problem to both your USB and DVD Drive problems , it being windows , it is failing to communicate device anomalies and is failing to handle device operations.

If the answer was no , you most probably have a faulty motherboard and the problem in question is most likley the south bridge , this is responsible for handling plugged in devices , IDE devicesUSB controller etc.. and communicating with the CPU

On another note in windows you could try one of two things:

1. Completly remove existing drivers , including the chipset and USB control drivers and reinstalling them , then rebooting and trying it all again

or

2. Reinstall the Windows OS and test your devices once more

I Hope this will solve your issues

Thanks , and please dont forget to rate :D
