Do a continuity test on the heating elements, and if they're good then do the same on the sequencers or contactors, whichever you have. The sequencers (or if you have contactors turn on the heating elements). All the fan does is blow air. It blows against the heating element to put out hot air. Either your sequencers/contactor or your heating element is defective.Wait, each sequencers is connected to a fuse.Check the sequencer fuse too. Find the sequencer/contactor wherever the wire feeding the heating element is coming from.

I recently had a ducted gas heating unit undergo a routine service. At the same time, the technician identified an external gas leak. The gas leak was subsequently fixed by another technician who noted...

The tech that fixed the gas leak had to shut the main gas supply off so if he didn't bled the line to the furnace you may still have air in the line....... Go ahead and shut the furnace off and retry to start it again it takes a couple of trys to bled the air out through the pilot.... And if that doesn't work I would call the first tech and have him recheck it......that is assuming that you have an electronic ignition type furnace.

Furnace works good, but when it shuts off there is a bang that can be heard through out the house

Hi,
The bang is the ductwork contracting somewhere...finding that can be difficult and getting to it to fix it may be very hard...
The metal is snapping back into shape after being pushed apart by the air pressire...you maybe able to help it by making sure that all of the air vents are open so the duct does not build so much pressure inside...

On a carrier home furnace, are there any air restricting plates that must be removed or installed for heat airflow distribution to ducting

Hi, and your answer for your question is none at all, no plates or anything to remove to get SA to the duct work.

I'm looking to purchase a Rudd 2 stage model, 16 SEER, 5 ton along with a 100000 BTU 95% furnace. I have a two story home and will only be using the 1 AC. Will the Rudd cool both floors?

Assuming that there are ducts ran upstairs and downstairs, it all depends on the square footage of the living spaces, i.e. bedrooms, living room, dining room, etc. You need an average of 1 cfm per sq ft. For every 1 ton of air, you have an average of 400cfms. So your 5 ton unit will cool/heat 2000 sq ft. A 16 seer unit with a 95% furnace is a nice buy and you will notice the difference for sure. Hope this helps!

Heater keeps going off on its on also fan not

Please provide more info. When it goes off does it come back on by itself or do you have to flip a breaker? Is the furnace gas or electric? If it is not moving enough air across your heat exchanger in a gas furnace or across electric heating elements this will trip a safety switch that will stop heating but not fan. Low air speed is most likely from inexperienced or improper duct design/ installation. Duct sizing is very important to move enough air. Don't believe me try breathing thru a straw. If your unit is a gas furnace it has a flashing code that will tell you what is wrong codes listed inside unit door. Could be lots of things. Reply with more info.

Vulcan-Bonaire : summer breeze

This unit is a cooling unit only. I don't know what switch you are looking at but I don't think it's for the evap. cooler(swamp cooler). I am in the Phoenix, Arizona area and it's very common to have a evap. cooler and a seperate heat/cool system as on the hottest days the evap. cooler doesn't cool enough. I hope this helps. Please give me a positive rating. Thank you.

The control panel gets its power from the central heating unit's power point. Try turning the power off outside at the powerpoint next to the ducted heating unit and try turning it on again after a few seconds, see if it resets

  • We had the same problem with our carrier heater 4 year or so ago. We had a technician and electrician try to resolve the problem. What the tech suggest was to replace the main component board to the heater and update it as well. haven't had any troubles with it. cost was $450.
