Question about Filter Queen Majestic Canister Vacuum

Replacing filter Got a Filter Queen Majestic vacuum from my inlaws when they moved overseas. I am in middle of vacuuming, got a weird noise, so opted to check and clean the filter for first time. UGH. The lower 'pot' that's the bottom part of the thing was full of gunk, but the filter pristine clean against the cone that's attached to the upper part of the unit. In other words, I am shocked to see that the dirt goes not INTO the filter, but outside of it into the bottom portion (that I call the 'pot') of the vacuum. Is this the way it is meant to be? I've never experienced this sight before. Normally, vacuum bags CONTAIN the dirt that's sucked up by the machine. HELP please. My apt. is in a mess, I'm in middle of cleaning and can' t continue without your help! Thanks, Judith

The vacuum is working, it just threw me to see all that dirt outside of the filter instead of in it!

Also, have no clue what a secondary filter is, as I haven't got the insruction booklet.

Also check belt on power nozzle, it may be worn. most filter queen vacs do drop the dirt in the pot. most shakes down when checking filter. this is normal. would have to hear noise to be sure. hope to have helped, good luck.

Also, when checking filter, you shake most dirt from filter to the pot as you call it. this is normal. you may want to check power nozzel if equipped. belt may be worn.

Usually, under the metal cone(the part the filter fits on) has a screw in the bottom. should remove and replace secondary filter to restore power.

I got a used filter queen majestic vacuum at a yard sale and want to fix it up and start with new filters where do i get the filters and how do i change them

Hello,

Well you bought a really great vacuum cleaner. The Filter Queen's are extremely durable and very well made vacuums. They sell brand new for over $2500, so picking one up at a yard sale was a great find by you.

There are several different filters on this model that need to be replaced. Here's a link to a 6 month supply kit that we sell, which contains all the filters needed for a 6 month period:

The only other part that you should be replaced on a regular basis is the belt (only if the vacuum has a motorized power nozzle for cleaning carpets). The belt should be changed every 6 months or so. Even if it doesn't break, these belts will stretch out and not work as well as a new belt would. Here's a link to the belt that will fit your Filter Queen Majestic:

Here's a link to the owner’s manual for a newer Majestic model. This is the only one that is available online. Even though it's a newer model, the maintenance and care will be exactly the same for your model.

I really hope this was the information that you needed. If you have any follow up questions, please don't hesitate to ask them by using the comment box here on the Fixya repair page.

If this did help you, please be so kind and rate my repair helpful, or leave some feedback for me. This is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Noise

The high pitched noise could be because the vacuum is loosing airflow. does the red light come on on the top? if it does ot emptythe vacuum, replace the cone filter, the secondary filter, and the batting in the top of the machine. also hook the hose to the top of the vacuum to make sure there are no clogs in the hose.

Motor

Filter ?Queen Majestic Canister Vacuum – Motor
Motor?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
If your Filter Queen Motor is out or not working, the customer can replace the motor if they are mechanically minded and mark the wires as they remove the old motor with the new motor or you can have it serviced by your local vacuum dealer in your area, you can pickup the motor @ a local vacuum cleaner dealer in you area by checking the yellow pages or to contact the Filter Queen factory listed below. It requires a new motor and a new gasket; the biggest problem would be the wiring of the new motor. The factory information is listed below:
