Question about Hotpoint RLA32

1 Answer

The compressor is running all the time and will not switch off even if the setting is reduced to its lowest. This only started recently and ice is forming at the top of the cabinet. The door appears to be sealing correctly and both interior and exterior appear undamaged. What else could I look at or check?

Why on a 05 impala the ac clutch stays on

You are either low or out of Freon.
The cars sensors is telling the motor it's not cold enough so it's staying on which can burn out the bearings if not taken care of ASAP.

Why does the safety valve go off before the pressure switch on a porter cable 80 gal air compressor

The maximum pressure on most small compressors is 10 bar or 1000kpa which is about 145 psi in the old language most safety valves are set to 150 psi. I suggest you get some one to reduce the pressure switch setting. Running a compressor at elevated pressures does not give you any more air. A reasonable pressure for small compressors is 120 psi

Unit was running and shut off. Now motor won't run. Seems to get initial click and then a hum.

Try trouble shooting it in this order
1. remove the v-belt connecting the motor and compressor
2. run the motor, if it runs well then check the compressor. try to turn the flywheel of the compressor by hand. if it turns alright then check the pressure switch.
3. check the setting of the pressure switch, it cuts off power to the motor when the preset pressure is reached, maybe it is set too low, adjust the pressure switch to a higher setting

fan should turn off when compressor not running, the relay switch is stuck open for the fan, and probably needs replacing, but even if it always runs there is no harm and it only uses like 15 watts

05 Jeep liberty- A/C compressor runs in all phases

This is Common. The Compressor will run even on Heat settings. It is simply Priming for actions that the Owner could Initiate. Not a big Problem.

Whirlpool Side by Side Refrigerator is turning on and off not getting cold at all. Freezer section barely cool and the vents during the times its on barely puts out air

it sounds like a bad:
  • start switch (on the side of the compressor) or

compressor itself
  • the start switch clicks  off usually when the compressor is pulling too many amps or the compressor is overheating. if the compressor is not even running then its probably not overheating.

so either the compressor is pulling too many amps (bad compressor) or the start switch is bad and cannot handle the amps required to start the compressor.

My philips fridge freezer (side by side) keeps clicking as if trying to do something. The issue only goes on for a short period of time and is not consistent in any way.

Compressor runs even when turned off

You could have a relay stuck closed, so every time the power is on it feeds electricity to the compressor.
