Sounds like a blade is hitting something on my Cub Cadet LT 1042.

I can't see anthing it could be hitting. Could the cutting deck be uneven causing the sould of the blade hitting something?

With tractor off and key in pocket check blade for straightness if straight then check by moving it up down if loose check retaining nut if nut tight then possible mandrel bearing burnt or shaft bent also check the mandrels are bolted correctly to deck lastly but least likely is a bent deck

Cub cadet:position of blades on mower deck of a cub lt 1045

the easiest is to lift it of ground a little.... not started and position the blades parallel to the body of the tractor. The blades even misaligned should not hit each other or cause any issues. with the blades disengaged they should move freely or with minimal effort

I hit a metal pipe with my cub cadet zero turn lawn mower today. Now it smokes under the deck when I engage the blades and it is not cutting the grass. Have I ruined my mower?

You'll need to look under the deck w/ the mower not running and see why the blades aren't turning. Most likely something is bent (maybe blade) and hitting something. The smoke is probably from the belt slipping and getting hot.

Need to know how to change transmission fluid on cub cadet lt 1045 riding mower

Cub Cadet has five models in their new Series 1000 lawn tractors, all powered by Kohler engines. Cub Cadet models -- as several other lawn equipment brands -- are manufactured by MTD Products.

The Cub Cadet LT 1045 has a 20-hp Kohler single-cylinder engine, with an aluminum block and cast-iron sleeve for longer life. It has a full-pressure lubrication system with spin-on oil filter for easier maintenance. This engine is not as powerful or as long lasting as the Kohler V-Twin OHV, which is available in other models in the line, but the LT 1045's engine is still solid enough to provide years of mowing.

The hydrostatic (automatic) transmission is a good match with the engine and provides sufficient grip to cut grass on moderate inclines. Power is transferred from the engine to the transmission by a heavy-duty Kevlar belt rather than a more expensive shaft drive. A Kevlar belt also drives the three cutting blades.

The mowing deck cuts a swath of grass 46 inches wide at one pass, and is removable for service and cleaning. Four anti-scalping wheels help keep the deck from scalping grass on uneven ground. The cutting height is manually adjusted from 1-1/2 to 4 inches. The turning radius is 18 inches, which standard for lawn tractors. This model is intended for use on 1- to 2-acre lawns without many turns or small obstacles.

Replaced blades on LT 1018 series and the blades are making a grinding noise. Followed operators manual instructions, purchased proper replacement parts. can you help?

You did what you were supposed to do, new blades, proper installation, and you were happy with what you thought was going to be a good outcome. The problem is that the new blades are hitting the deck area. Old blades ware down , your mower deck was bumping into stuff . Now you have to go under with a hammer and hammer back the dents where the blades are hitting. You did very well to start, but now to finish you have to do a little bit more. You will be mowing again in no time. Good luck.

My cub cadet 1042 leaves a stip down the center when mowing. I have new blades put on by the dealer and this seems to be an ongoing problem.

I had the same. design of the deck is not good. grass will build up and insolate (like a donut) the blade from cutting the immediate blades. FIX - replace custom blades with "Gator Blades and the claws will free up the cluster of interferances of grass, kick it out, thus allowing the blade free space to cut the immediates blades of grass.

Hope this helps as it was my last trial of fixes. IT DOES WORK.

After adjusting deck 1042 cub cadet still cuttinglow right side

try checking to see if perhaps the blade is bent if not blade maybe the spindle or possibly the bearings are bad on the spindles causing them to not run true, also are all tires inflated properly good luck
