Question about Heating & Cooling
I follow the instructions on the heater, but the pilot will not light. Instructions lay out I must switch the house termostat to under room temperature, then turn the power to the machine off, then place knob to pilot and press, light up with a match, then wait with pilot on for 30 seconds. Though no gas seems to come out of the pilot and it does not ignite. Gas mains to heater is on and I cannot seem to work out what I am doing wrong.
Could be a number of things
Sounds like it the gas valve. If the gas Valve isn't opening or is burnt out then no gas will flow through it.
Also it the pilot is blocked then you wont get and gas coming through to light it up.
I am forever replacing gas valves on the buffalo series units and have found this to be quite a common problem on older units.
