I already did that. Originally it had a generic Microsoft driver dated 2001.

I have installed the latest driver from Acer dated 2005.

  • David Stacey May 09, 2010

As I have already said-I have already installed an updated driver.

  • David Stacey May 09, 2010

I find this hard to believe. I am using XP Home. A new video card Nvidia GE Force 9800 GT. My display wont go that high. I have it on the highest rating of 72 htz refresh rate allowed, although I note the Acer specs say it can go to 85!

  • David Stacey May 09, 2010

In addition to previous reply to you, I should mention that the screen moves from side to side. When I press and hold the left or right button the message goes away.

The PCB present in the front side of monitor is gone... open the screws from behind, and remove the front panel... Take the pcb along with the switch present in it... check for any physical damages.... if no then clean it with thinner or petrol using a old tooth brush... plug it back and connect all necessary wires... Now check by turning on.... still same problem then you need to replace that part alone with a new one... no other go....
You can also remove that entire unit and work with the computer, but you wont be able to adjust the settings in the monitor....

EXACTLY the right answer for this issue. To take the front bezel part easily use a stainless steel ruler between the two halves and twist, it causes the least amount of damage. Disconnect the cable from the button PCB and the problem is solved.

Not having the menu controls has no effect in real life. If the picture is wrong disconnect the power cable; upon reconnecting it will go into autoconfig (once) and get the picture right.

I'm suspect about the situation of the buttons. Have you checked if the "auto" button has been loced in press potition? By the way what is the resolution you use on that monitor? (1440 x 900 is the Native Resolution)

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.
