Question about Proform 590T Treadmill

1 Answer

We have a 590t that is @ 2 months old. It has gradually developed a clicking noise that is most noticeable at lower speeds. I called the company and was advised to remove the drive belt to see if it still made the noise. I did that and plugged it in and the motor did not make the noise, but when I turned the waling belt by hand the clicking noise was still there, even without the drive belt being on. So I know that its not the motor or drive belt, although now I can't seem to get the drive belt back on, either. Any suggestions would be welcome. Jeff

Hey Jeff,
You will have to loosen the 2 bolts that hold the drive motor on to the frame, then stretch the drive belt and rotate the flywheel until is fully engaged on the pulley then tighten the bolts. Hope this helps

Check the linkage at the advance to se if it is broken. Some are by mechanical connection and others are by vacuum. If vacuum you have developed a leak and must replace the controler to make it work again.

Sounds like the water inlet valve isn't working. Check your house water pressure and make sure it's not above 80 psi. If it isn't, then call a repair company that handles GE warranty work.

It might be motor bearings or a roller. Remove the drive belt and run the machine.

Every time I put the key in my Proform 590T, the incline rises for a second, and lowers for a second while displaying 2 hash marks. Then, the home screen comes. All speeds work fine for walking/running,...

how long have you had this treadmill? usually when the hash marks appear it means that the console control board is not recognizing the incline motor. even though it does run a little bit that is just the basic test that the treadmill starts but resets after it does not sense the incline motor. These motors rarely go bad so it is more than likely your motor controller that is causing the issue. I have seen this case many times as i am a fitness repair technician. The motor controller fixes the issue 9 times out of 10

Freezer defrosted everything and there is a clicking noise every few minutes, unit is only 2 months old

Good day,
The clicking sound sounds like the compressor trying to start but can't and the thermal overload is shutting it down.

However, since it's only 2 months old, you have total warranty on the machine. Call your selling dealer, and arrange for a warranty service call. It will be free to you.

As anyone out here heard of Google's new project "caffeine"? What is it all about?

Hi there,

From Google:

Google has revealed project “caffeine”, a new test version of its search engine which it claims will be faster and more relevant than ever before.

In the face of increasing innovation and competition in the search market, Google is upping the ante by developing new technology which will speed up indexing search results and create a larger index.
Web developers have been invited by Google engineers to test the new search engine and give their feedback. The front end of the engine looks no different. It is the back end technology which Google developers hope will noticeably index new content faster and reduce the time between new content being published online and it then appearing in a Google search result.
Matt Cutts, a principal engineer at Google and Sitaram Iyer, a staff software engineer posted an entry on the company’s webmaster central blog, appealing to developers to try the newly improved service and send them some feedback.
“For the last several months, a large team of Googlers has been working on a secret project: a next-generation architecture for Google's web search. It's the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions.”
“The new infrastructure sits "under the hood" of Google's search engine, which means that most users won't notice a difference in search results. But web developers and power searchers might notice a few differences, so we're opening up a web developer preview to collect feedback,” they explained.
A Google spokesperson added: “"Google is always working on new technologies to improve the quality of our search services. We hope this new system will improve search in the areas of speed, accuracy, and comprehensiveness."
Martin McNulty, director of search marketing specialist, Trafficbroker, who has tried the new version, said: “Google's caffeine is undoubtedly faster, almost twice as fast at times. It's like a Google GTi.
“Caffeine may be 'under the hood' but with this noticeable injection of speed it won't remain under the radar for long.
“As for accuracy, it's hard to say at this early stage but Google is clearly upping its game by including real-time results and more breaking news, as well as updates from the likes of Facebook and Twitter.”
In the last few months Microsoft has revamped its own search engine, formely called Live, rebranding it Bing and claiming it performs more intuitive searches. Prior to that, Wolfram Alpha launched, which performs searches based on computational knowledge.
Mr McNulty added: “The launch of Bing has been a good thing, although unfortunately more for Google than Bing if the level of innovation continues at this frantic pace. Google is still very much in the driving seat and is still setting the pace."

Toro Personal Pace self propel problem.

Your self-propel is probably belt driven. Belts can make an awfully lot of noise when unhappy. Possible it has rolled over and is running on the wrong side of the belt or is worn and just needs replaced. Hope this helps.,
