I used this external hardrive for storage my pictures, after I have vacation about six months. I turn on for use it but isn't work, this hardrive had someting wrong with sofware ?. Please help me

hard drives are destined to die, it's not a matter if but a matter of when now, if you are still able to see your hard drive when connected to your computer you may want to look into the hd's manufacturer website, some vendors may provide tools to test the hd.
alternatively you may want to use a tool called spinrite, for this I would suggest to carefully get the hard drive out of the case and connect your hard drive to a system then hoping that you were able to connect the hd correctly to the system, you need to run spinrite in an attempt to restore some of the info that may have been lost.
another tool that may also work to get some files back but again only if your system is able to recognize the hd is a tool called minitool power data recovery.
if you are not able to get your hd being detected try to see if the problem is not the hd but the data cable, just to rule out the possibility that it may be that instead of the hd.
good luck!

Maxtor 320 GB mini not working

If it shows up as a USB mass storage device it:-
1. Has power
2. It is connected to the computer via USB.
3.The correct software has been loaded for the hard drive.
The beep sound is probably an error message saying that the drive is not responding properly inside the case.

Hard drives Drives have been known to stick or not start up due to power cables or ribbon cables being dislodged. Try pushing these back into place.

If this is not the problem go to the Maxtor site (maxtor.com) and report the problem with the drive, not the USB which appears to functioning correctly.

Hi, I have an external hard drive GHD225U40 that

go to device manager on computer, (while the external hardrive is connected) find the drive on the list and right click it or somthing, and look to see if you can update any drivers on it..this is more then likely your problom because when you switched from xp to 7 it might have wiped out the drivers for the external hardrive

On startup the hard drive makes continuous beeping sound and small orange light comes on

Its not Hard Drive that makes beeping sound its your mainboard. Check in Bios (if possible) that HD is recognised properly. Disconnect HD form computer and then start computer without HD to see wheather the problem is still there. If not, connect another HD (preferably not more than 40 GB) and use a new IDE cable if applicable. Some HP PCs record in Bios their original HD serial number preventing replacement of HD. In worst case the HD controller on Mainboard is not working properly or may be defected.

External HD not recognizing USB ports as being Hi-speed ports

I have the same issue. I have 4 Simpletech Signature 250GB drives. They all worked fine at first. After about six months two of them started connecting at USB 1 speeds. It occurs on 4 different computers!!! The post about it being the computer assumes is wrong. How can it work fine for six months and then suddenly change. Also it occurs on different computers. I have submitted a tech support request with simpletech and will post the results.

No power in my Maxtor 3200 external HD

Maxtor hard drives have sometimes have problems. When you say it didn't work, can you here the drive spinning? Do you feel a G effect if up pick up the drive? Are any lights on? If all these are no then the unit is dead. Now all may not be lost. This drive may be able to be slaved to another and then accessed to remove your data. Do you have the capability of removing the drive from the case and slaving it to another CPU? If not then the unit needs to see a reputable repair person.
