2005 Chevy Equinox - Auto Volume setting questions...How does one do it?
2005 Chevy Equinox LT with MP3 Radio. Auto volume had been working fine then apparently, inadvertantly buttons were pushed and it stopped working. I opened the owners manual to read how to reset and store the settings, only to find out there is NOTHING in the book other than a very vague explanation of auto vol low med and high. It does not tell you what to do, how to do it, or what sequence to do it in. I even stopped at a chevy dealer - what a bunch of buffoons they were !!! I have now emptied about a tank worth of expensive gas trying different things out trying to figure this out. All functions and from what I can tell, displays, are fully functional. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Is there any manual available for this radio?

Anyway, I am not very familar with the Pioneer GUI auto setup. But, am aware of how AVR are set-up.
If you have set up the home theatre by auto/manual setup then please check the channel levels whether any of your channels settings is at +7.0db.
If so, reduce this setting where it more +7.0, then you would be able to raise the overall main setting from the volume control to go higher than -7db.( by as much as you've lowered the particular channel setting)
I was playing around with my Sherwood RD 6513 and adjust the the output level to its maximum, amongst other settings. This limited my output on the amp to a maximum volume of 65 not 90+.. Anyway i pluged in the microphone and done another 'auto setup' of the volume levels and distances, and this allowed the volume to exceed 65 again!
Also if you have an external source such as a DVD player - i would assume you have already checked its output volume setting?
You can download the manual from the link below:
c. Power On Volume
This sets a designated volume setting for the TX-DS787 to be set
every time that the power is turned on. This prevents the TXDS787
from being turned on while it is set to an extremely high
volume and suddenly output very loud sounds. For the absolute
volume display method, this can be set between min and max. For
the relative volume display method, this can be set between ??
and 18 decibels. If you do not mind having the TX-DS787 turned
on with its current volume setting, set this to "Last."
