You can take your game disk to gamestop, EB games, blockbuster or any place that has rentals or resells of any discs. They have professional disk buffers to get rid of scratches for this exact purpose.

It may seem weird but I have never been told no by someone behind the counter. Just ask if they can buffer your game in the machine they use. I think when I did it it the charged me like 3 bucks.

Is your disc at all scratched? If so, that is likely the problem here. Try cleaning the disc.

To clean the disc, get a soft, non-abrasive cloth (such as a glasses cleaning cloth) and some mild dish detergent. Mix a drop or two of detergent with a cup of water. Apply the solution with the cloth, always moving the cloth from the center of the disc outwards; never try to clean a disc in circular motions.

You can also find disc cleaning kits at most electronics retailers.

You can try using toothpaste. I've tried it several times and it has worked for me. Here's how you do it.
  1. Grab a bottle of toothpaste and your disc
  2. Put a good amount of paste on the disc
  3. Take a soft cloth and rub the toothpaste over the disc. Be sure to give it some pressure.
  4. Turn on a sink and wash the toothpaste off your disc
  5. Place disc in Xbox and enjoy

The disc may be scratched. Look for scratches on the disc and if there are clean it with a disc cleaning solution. Only outward strokes. Not circular strokes.

The disc in the game cube does not turn. the error say, game disc cannot be read.

The Disc could not be read:
  1. Ensure the game is inserted correctly. With the power turned off on the system, replace the Game Disc in the system, printed side up. Press down gently on the Game Disc until it locks on the center hub. Close the Disc Cover and press the power button ON to see if the game comes on the screen.
  2. Determine if this happens with more than one game by inserting a different game into the system.
If the error occurs with all games, follow the Multiple Game Disc troubleshooting.
If the error occurs with only one game, follow the individual game disc troubleshooting
Troubleshooting - Multiple Discs
  1. Some games may need to be cleaned. Clean each disc with a soft, slightly damp cotton cloth (use water only). Clean them from center towards the edges; do not use a circular motion. DO NOT use paper. Once they are cleaned, dry the disc using a dry portion of the cloth and wiping in the same style as you did to clean the discs. After all of the water is gone, let the discs sit for at least two minutes to completely dry before inserting any of them into the Nintendo GameCube.
  2. Check for Unlicensed products. Make sure that you're using only licensed products with your Nintendo system. Unlicensed products are not tested for compatibilty and may not work correctly with all games. Try playing the game without the unlicensed accessory.
  3. Ensure the games are being loaded properly. With the power turned off on the system, replace a Game Disc (printed side up) in the system, press down gently on the Game Disc until it locks on the center hub. Close the Disc Cover and press the power button ON to see if the game comes on the screen. Try this with a few of your games.
If Troubleshooting doesn't fix the problem, and it is happening with all your games, then your system will need repair. Check out our convenient repair options.
Single Disc
The following steps are for problems with a single Game Disc or if you only own one game. If more than one game is experiencing problems, please link here.

Note: It is possible that the problem you have may be game play related. For example, if you cannot defeat a particular enemy, or are missing an item you need to complete an area, the problem is likely game play related and there is nothing wrong with your Game Disc. Please check our game play help for assistance.

Does not read games

Hi,

Follow these steps when you are facing "disc wont read" problem

Step 1:Remove the disc from the system.

Step 2:Use a cloth to clean in small circles around the disc (not in a big circle going around the disc). Use DVD or CD disc cleaner if available. If you use cleaner, use a different dry cloth to clean the disc no more than three minutes after application.

Step 3:Verify that there are no disc-destroying marks on the disc. Deep scratches and chips in the middle of the disc can render a disc inoperable. As your Playstation 3 is used more and more, the lens that reads Blue-ray discs can become dirty. This will lead to discs skipping or not being read by the console. If you find this is happening on your Blue-ray discs, either movies or games, you may need to have your console cleaned. Be careful when attempting any sort of cleaning of your console, as improper handling will further damage the Playstation 3. Contact a member of Playstation Support for information on console maintenance.

Thank you !!

I get a can't read disc message with my wii fit

even small scratches can cause disk read errors. Try cleaning it again with a little white spirit using a soft cotton cloth then dry it off with a soft cotton cloth. If it still does not read, a lot of 'game' shops repair scratched disks for about £3.00.

I hope this helps

Wii

Alcohol will CLEAN it, but if it's scratched in the right spot NOTHING will save it. Also be sure to use NON-abrasive cloth to rub with )like cotton, NOT paper towel).
