I love this printer and have had it since January 2001. I have never had a problem with it and it has provided outstanding results.
I recently had to purchase a new computer and it came with Vista installed. Unfortuneately NEC no longer supports its printers and they never developed a Vista driver for this printer.
Is there any way I can get this printer to work with my new Vista system? If not, can someone recommend a comparable laser printer I could consider for purchase to replace it.
I use my laser for black and white printing and a separate Canon inkJet (i960) for photos and color.
Thanks, in advance, for any advice provided.

- Thanks Patrillica,
Now I know. I was using this printer on an XP system which is the latest system NEC developed a printer driver for.
I like the HP printer you pointed me to. I note that Amazon has it available for $299.99 with a $100.00 rebate from HP through 3/29. The final price of $199.00 is about my original purchase price for the NEC 1400 in 2001! I'm going to go for it.
Thanks again for your caring input and best wishes for continued success in all your efforts -- keep up the good work!!

Download the driver from download.com and then try and install it. It will fail. Then manual install any HP network printer and when it asks for the driver disk, point it at the folder that you expanded the driver in and it will install the NEC Superscript 1400.

We have a NEC 1400 hooked up to our main computer (XP) and printer sharing turned on. Our daughter has a Vista Laptop and has no problem accessing the printer via WiFi. My wife just bought a new Vista 64 bit laptop and although the printer shows up on the network list we cannot print to it? I tried installing the original printer drivers from the CD but Vista says the OS cannot read the set-up file? Help Dave

I am having problems with paper jams on my xd155df printer. I can put soap on the pick rollers allow the paper to be picked up. I finally found new new papeer pick up roller tires for replacement. Are there any directions available as to how to install these small rubber tires, there are two per tray. Instructions or a service manual for this printer would be terriffic. It has performed perfectly for many years and I'd like to keep it going. Many thanks, Larry
