Normally you just have to open the cover and carriage will move to the center and gives you acces to your printhead. You must take the grey lever up and pull out the faulty printhead.

Just make sure that you peeled off all the orange protective tape.

My Cannon i860 is blinking an amber light five times and then returns to green then blinks amber five times and so on. What is this error telling me?

I too went through all the cleaning processes on my i860 with its amber light blinking five times to one of green. After all that time and effort, I ordered a new head, replaced it, put the old ink carts back in, and presto, worked like a charm. Don't waste time and money doing anything else.

I960 resume light flashes yellow 5 times 1 green

Five yellow flashes indicate that the printer doesn't recognize the print head, or thinks that the wrong print head is installed. You can try to remedy this by opening the cover, removing the ink tanks, then removing the print head (lift the locking lever). Check that the copper contacts on the back of the print head are clean, then reinsert the print head, lock it in, and reinstall the ink tanks. If you still have the error indication, the print head may be bad and need replacing. Contact Canon for your options on this.

My Canon pixma ip 4000 won´t print. The light at the turn on button blinks five times orange and then comes one green blink. I have tried to clean the print head but that didn´t change anything....

this indicates a the print head is not installed correctly or is faulty.

if the green and orange is alternating 5 times then it is caused by the sheet feeder.

This error mean "non installed or defective print head".First open cover and remove the ink cartridges. Then open holder and remove the print head.Clean the contacts on printer and print head using piece of cotton and some alcohol. Then put back all again. If the problem persist you need to replace the print head. It's part number is QY6-0057.

You need to do the print head cleaning. The steps are listed below.

Print Head Cleaning / Head Refreshing
If the printed Nozzle Check Pattern is broken, missing, or a specific color is not printed, clean the print head.

1. Press the <Menu> button on the printers operation panel.

2. Press the left [<] or right [>] arrow buttons to select [MAINTENANCE].

3. Press the <Set> button.

4. Press [<] or [>] to select the cleaning setting you want. Select [HEAD CLEANING] for normal print head cleaning. Select [HEAD REFRESHING] for deep print head cleaning.

Note: [HEAD REFRESHING] uses more ink than [HEAD CLEANING], so perform [HEAD REFRESHING] only when necessary.

5. Press <Set>.

6. Print a Nozzle Check Pattern and perform at least two Head Refreshing if the pattern is not correct.

Canon i860 error codes

Try this: With your i860 printer turned ON, press and hold the I/O switch then pull off the power cord. This will turn off your printer. But without lifting your finger on the I/O switch put back your power cord. the I/O switch will blink for a second and will go off, then turn-on your printer again and see if it works.
