Please do the followings first: 1. Turn off the camera . 2. Remove the battery and memory card. 3. Unscrew the screws and remove the camera back cover. 4. Apply a dry air with hair dryer, but be very careful about it. And while doing this follow the instructions below. a. Turn your hair dryer to warm weather and min pressure and at least min 10 cm away from the camera. b. Give warm weather, min pressure to camera but not to the same point. Turn your camera while doing this. Never apply to the same point. Change the position of camera every 2-3 seconds. c. You should go on to do that at least one hour. d. After an hour leave your camera to a dry room at least for one day. e. Give warm weather as you did before at least half an hour. f. Leave your camera to the dry room again at least for one day. 5. Never install the battery up to now and never Turn on the camera. 6. Look carefully to the camera. Is there any water or wetness. If there is wetness then do the same for one day again. 7. Never attach your battery and never turn on the camera. 8. Look carefully to the camera again. Is there any wetness. If you understand the above and want to apply my instructions, inform me and I will send the last solution to you and I will want you to vote my solution.

A cell phone and a camera has the same solution.
Your camera can be saved.
You will need
1. A plastic container with a lid.
2. Blow dryer.
3. Towel
4. Two silica gel packs
STEP 1. Remove your camera's battery
STEP 2. Remove your memory card.
STEP 3. Clean the camera with towel roughly.
STEP 4. With your blow dryer, dry your camera with warm or cool.
STEP 5. Place your camera, battery and memory card into a plastic container with silica gel packs. Allow this package to leave for at least three days for preventing your camera from moisture.
STEP 6. After three days remove your camera from plastic container. Try to use it with its battery. If it does not work. Then try to use the camera with a charger or with a DC adopter. If it works then you will need to change your battery with a new one.

You can see these steps in a video use the link below.

I hope it is helpful.

Did you apply the solution or find an other way?

    FIKRET UNALIR May 14, 2010

    Hello again,

Sometimes we face with similar situations. In this situation it looks as if this method is not helpful. Because the problem could not be solved. But if you have wached the video and if you are sure that you had applied the steps correctly then you should got to the nearist authorized service center now. There is nothing to do yourself. In some conditions you can save your camera but mostly unfortunately you can not. This is your mistake so in such conditions service centers will not accept to use the warranty. So you should pay some money if you decide to be repaired. But I think this payment will be higher than you think. Prepare yourself to change your camera with a new one.

You did not vote yet. If you find my work is helpful, please give a vote. I could not solve your problem but I tried enough?

My Olympus 1050 SW looks like it might have a little water inside the camera. The lens is foggy. I didn't take it very deep the last time I was in the water with it, but I did store it in a cooler and...

You can TRY and dry out the camera, but I can pretty much guarantee you that there is corrosion inside and it will eventually fail if it hasn't done so already. The Olympus Stylus Tough cameras are not very tough or waterproof unfortunately. I have seen dozens of them with smashed LCD windows or that have leaked water.

Don't buy a waterproof camera, cause they aren't waterproof. Buy an underwater case and put your camera in that.

To try and dry out the camera, some people suggest putting it in a ziplock back with rice to pull out the moisture, it's not a bad thing to try. The fog in the lens MIGHT go away, but it will most likely leave spots or a big ring which will show up on all your pictures.

Your camera is most likely a goner, sorry to say.

I accidently dropped my 1050 sw olympus digital camera. and now i cant see anything but a black sreen with red and green lines running down the side..Could this be fixed i can still take pictures but i...

This has happened due to failure of lcd controller or due to a flex cable misalignment. When your camera was dropped, the cable connecting the lcd with the main board might came off and needs to be reconnected back. However, if you want to be sure its the flex cable and not any lense issue, you'll need to connect your camera with the computer and check whether all pictures you clicked after the camera gone bad are fine?

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Menu button - right arrow to Setup - right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the write protect message and the card can be used again.
