Husqvarna is leaving a strip of grass, grass is dry, blades are sharp; wondering if deck can be adjusted.

  • mvcarpenter May 09, 2010

Thank you for responding. How can it be adjusted? The blades were fine earlier this season and even last year.

Hello,it is caused by the length of the blade.have this reminder that as you sharpen your blades YOU MAKE THEM SHORTER!! We've had a few lively discussions here about this and some remained unconvinced.

Actually, sharpening doesn't make the actual length of the blade shorter, but it makes the cutting width of the blade shorter (the diagonal) until the blades no longer overlap and you get your uncut strip down the middle.all this happens simply because the blades are not overlapping.you can visit the sites below for a more comprehensive instruction and also for purchase of blades.

hello, kindly follow the steps below for instructions,

    1. Place a piece of duct tape over the air hole
on top of the gas tank to prevent any gas from leaking out when you tip
the mower on its side. Tip the mower so the Husqvarna gas tank is
facing up when you tip the mower on its side.

    2. Step 2

Place the block of wood at the base of the mower deck, and place your foot on it to prevent the mower blade from turning.

    3. Step 3

      Unscrew
the bolt(s) holding the Husqvarna blade to the crankshaft under the
mower deck with the proper size wrench. Take note of which way the
blade is pointing for a quick installation.

    4. Step 4

      Pull
the blade off. Put the new blade in place of the old one. Screw the
bolt back in with the proper size wrench until it is hard to turn the
      bolt.

    5. Step 5

Tip the mower flat on the ground. Remove the tape from the top of the gas tank lid.
    TIPS AND WARNINGS
1.Wear leather gloves to prevent cutting yourself on the blade.2.Pull the spark plug cap off while working on a lawn mower to prevent any possible shock or accidental start-up
    THANKS FOR USING FIXYA,

    TAKE CARE.

Hi, i think you have the wrong blade installed, which means that they are too short for your application and leaves that trail of uncut grass down the middle. This problem can be solved by getting a blade of 1/4" longer.

Or the entire deck is tilted which you can adjust yourself..

Take care

Actually, no. But this may be a result of the fact that you didn't let the grass dry before mowing it.

I have a Craftsman SL3500 42" riding lwan mower. the two blads make uneven paths ans the left blade makes a cut about 1/4" lower than the right blade. What do I do?

You should be using a up lift blade it will help by sucking up the grass to be cut. You should have an adjust on both sides of the blade deck . As for the strip check to see if you have a wheel behind the mower deck. If you do it might be the cause for mower leaving a strip uncut . Sears has been noted for putting wheels in the path of the blade area and smashing the grass down . That is also why I suggest to use an up draft blade it should **** the grass back up again so you can cut it.

Why is my husqvarna zero turn leaving a strip of uncut grass on the left side of the deck

I have a 2014 HUSQVARNA RZ5424 that I just changed the blades on for the first time now 2017. I got new gator blades because of all the good reviews on them. They are about as good as a screen door on a submarine at 300 feet deep. There the same length as the original blades but leaves two rows of uncut grass about a inch wide regardless of how you try to cut it. Only 240 hours on mower, deck clean ,spindles kept greased . Went back to new Husquvarna blades like the ones made for it. PROBLEM SOLVED. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. REL.

jack the tractor (using a tractor jack) or remove the deck, measure the blade tips against each other where they meet in the center of the deck and see if they are the same tip to tip. Bearing wear, a bent deck or blade can make them cut at different heights in the center.

I have a yardman 46 in cut riding mower, it is leaving grass in the middle. I have put new blades, change the belts, put on a new tention spring, so what is my problem?

Well one of the spindle assemblies, could be running a little slower on one side then the other. But I would take a guess that you are trying to cut grass, way too fast for the mower. Try running a ground speed a liitle slower and see what happens.
Good Day.

Leaving streaks of grass in middle of mower

Your forward speed may be too fast for the mower blades to cut every blade of grass. It may be new, but check the deck to see if there are any dents pushing the quill assemblies up making the deck cut uneven. Or it may have the wrong blades on it.
I have seen this problem in the past with a Gravely mower. The person was trying to cut grass to fast. He sold the unit and the new onwer did not noticed any the problems the old owner described.

Riding mower

If the grass is very tall (more than 10") you will have to slow down to less than 1 mph, if you have a mulch kit on this unit, remove it to get the grass out as quickly as possible. Also, sharp blades & a level deck are important.

48 inch deck problems

a lot of problems here.try this.[grass buildup]. usually cause by damp grass or blades not going fast enough to throw into box.engine cutout is then caused by grass jamming blade[s]. backfire is usually too much choke or wrong petrol/air mixture.re bent grass.try cutting driving in reverse[if strip is wide cos of back tyre then blade is uneven.]
