Question about Panasonic PT-47WX49 47" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Convergence Everything was fine. Turned off and on and the convergence was way off. When I got to the convergence 1 menu and get the large green cross hairs, the verticle line is fine but the horiz. line is off on the right of the screen by an inch. There is a gap and I cannot move it over. The color is fine in the middle but off on both sides. It actuall bows outward at the top and bottom. Thanks, Scott

How do you access the convergence calibration menu on a RCA P52926 Rear Projection TV

Hello
To access the convergence calibration:

Press the MENU button on the remote.

2. Press 3 to select the Screen option.

3. Press 4 to select the Adjust Projection TV option.

4. Press 4 to select the Advanced Convergence option (the
Advanced Convergence screen appears).

The green pattern is fixed. The red and blue patterns are adjusted to

the green pattern. The Red Convergence appears first by default.

5. Colored cross-hairs show the current adjustment position on the

grid. To move the cross-hairs to a different position, use the

CH+/- buttons on the remote to move the cross-hair highlight up

and down, and the VOL+/- buttons to move it right and left.

6. Use the arrow buttons to adjust the red pattern. Each press of

the arrow button makes a slight adjustment from the center of

the cross-hairs - you can press and hold the desired arrow

button to make a faster adjustment, and then make fine

adjustments with single presses of the arrow button.

7. Press the INFO button to switch to Blue convergence and follow

the steps above to adjust the blue pattern.

8. Press OK to exit. You will be asked if you want to save the
adjustments

Yes Saves adjustments.

No Returns to the Advanced Convergence screen allowing

further adjustments.
Clear Exits screen without making any changes

Note: Before you use the advanced convergence feature, you must
complete the previous steps to align the tubes

How do I adjust the convergence properties on an RCA rear projection tv?

Normally on the RCA rear projection TV's you would bring up your menu and choose the Setup menu, then press OK on the remote. That menu would then have Convergence as a choice. Once that was chosen the next menu would give you the choice of either letting the TV run it's own Autoconvergence program, or you would select either Red or Blue convergence.

Choosing Red Convergence would bring up a Yellow cross-hair in the middle of the screen. If the Convergence was not correct you would see separate Green and Red cross-hairs. Once they were perfectly aligned you would again see one Yellow cross-hair.

Choosing Blue Convergence would bring up a Blue cross-hair in the center of the screen. If the alignment was out you would see 2 Blue cross-hairs. Using the Up and Down and Left and Right cursor keys you would adjust the alignment until a single solid Blue cross-hair was in the center of the screen.

Does it take some type of gel under the lights, the colors are a little blurry

i also have this tv. i removed backcleaned mirrior, back of screen and lenses VERY GOOD. Then turned on tv go to convergence, sepaerate cross hairs then adjust focus on lenses. Then lenses rotate maybe about a 1/3 turn total by hand. Grab ring that houses lenses and turn until cross hairs are as clear as possible. This can be done with out help by watching inside of screen. red and green are adjustable, the blue is adjustablealso but i couldnt find blue cross hairs, maybe by covering red and green lenses the blue will show on screen. anyway when done and cross hairs are clear, lenses, mirror and screen are clean, you can adjust covergence and get a very clear screencleaning will also brighten pic. If auto convergence does not work in the menu then replace the convergence ICs and check resistors around it. You can take the grill off the front and access the convergence board fron the front. Its a small board to the right and it is removable. Do auto convergence again after replacement.

Cross hairs

Hello, You need 2 convergence ICs if you cannot converge the red and blue lines on top of the green "cross hair". You should be able to use the front panel controls to move the red and blue around. If you can move them around and they just won't move completely on top of the green then the ICs are bad. The ICs are mounted to large, finned heatsinks and have numbers that start with "STK-" and have numbers following. These parts are available from http:\\www.tritronicsinc.com.

Green convergance problem

Sounds like a convergence amp failure. Depending on model, there may be 1 or 2 large Ics. Due to the delicate soldering involved, a tech should change these amps.Often the old part numbers have been upgraded, and small value resistors may need to be changed also.

to find the cross hairs, you need to go into the menu, and find the convergence. In the main menu you need to select picture and then go to more and you will find the convergence. If this does not work to fix the problem with the color, you may have to have the coolant changed.
