If it is under warrenty they will just exchange it for a new one. Webcams are repairable like most electronics but it is not cost effective to do so. The parts if they are not major ones are cheap but the labor definitly isn't. If it could be repaired you would pay more to fix it then just going out and buying a new one.

So best advice is to check for warrenty from the store or the manufacturer. If you have none and it is definitly nonfunctional then you should keep an eye out for any sales and just get a new replacement.

Problem solved thank you

in this redundant post 2. For dead internet.
And hach2 wifi is empty no day1 factory option WIFI , zero
so the previous owner bought this USB device long ago... my guess..... logical no?
Ie: dead Ethernet and now dead unknown USB wifi. dongle.
i will show the steps to finding the wifi USB Idents.
I will attempt the long way. (getting Ethernet working first is smarter below is bucking the realities of that)

  1. test the USB port under test with mouse first to see if the port is working, ok it works. (if not fix USB ports dead first, ask.)
  2. Plug in the unstated, unknown wifi USB device.
  3. The XP goes ding dongg sound with USB inserted but fails to load this driver, for it, because XP does not support it directly nor is your internet working so PNP is dead, for all things.
  4. Go do DM now, using CP + System +Hardware + device manager, you should have DM down pat now, ok? going there.
  5. You then see the USB device and its RED marked, as bad, sure it is. no driver, for it. as expected with USB devices 1000s not supported by XP, endless,,, so you then.,
  6. right click the dead USB wifi device there. and pick properties
  7. on the properties page see tab details. click that.
  8. now see the below example photo, see me picking
  9. Device instance ID and seeing the PCI\VEN codes.
  10. write down that whole ID line and i can get the driver for you .
  11. as can vast other trained techs, we look at first.

this is only and example your names at top are different
there vast numbers of usb wifi sold for 18 years. vast.
which one you have nobody knows lacking VEN and DEV codes
xp3-myshbgqss50la4jhjuccrrvx-1-0.jpg btw: we can do the above on all things dead in DM.
learn the codes, and drivers, get 10x more easy to find
on all relic, PC 13 years old even 2001 , XP PC.
even 18 years old. after all HP ended support a long long time ago on relic PCs.

"DM" = Device manager, if unsure what that means
watch youtube, see 100s teaching how to use relic OS XP there.
"how to use XP device manager" there.

For a HP dv7-6135dx laptop, the integrated webcam and microphone have stopped working. Is there a way to repair the laptop? Out of warranty.

what OS , no OS state, is this dead XP, ?
or WINDOWS 7??????
Both the PC (exactly) and the OS loaded.
here are the w7 drivers, load them.

click multi-media here. see that cyberlink, cam

looks like support is until 2021... good news for you.
what I'd do is back all those drivers up so you dont need to find them when they get corrupted.

did you install W10 in this box.
yes, bingo 2.... lots of things dead. oops.

Mice is not working

change your mouse around the USB ports of your computer. if it works on another port then stick to that port. if not then your mouse has either dropped dead or the mouse has no compatible software to your computer. which is very unlikely as nearly all mice have at least plug and play compatibility. if its dead i would consider taking a little time to pick a new mouse. theres a lot and you might find a really comfy one you like.

It is not connecting to the computer

your computer should always acknowledge the fact that a device is hooked up to the computer via usb or otherwise I would say your webcam is proably dead and in need of a replacement

I have 3 usb ports( two at the back and one on the

Check to see if something else will work on the side port. It may not necessarily be a dead port. Just something you should know too; I used to work for Wal-Mart in the electronics department and they had to recall all their firefly flash drives because they had a tendancy to malfunction. Try using it on a different computer, it might just be a dead flash drive. I hope this helps your problem and I hope your flash drive didn't have anything too important on it :x

The blue light will not come on

It is working? If yes, the USB port maybe burned out the LED, this happened to my webcam, the eletrical current was too strong, and killed the LED, but it continue working. If it is not working, or it is dead, or have something wrong with you USB port. Try connecting another device. If no such port works, maybe the USB controler is dead, or have something with your drivers...

Dell inspiron's USB ports can't detect webcam

Try a different USB device...see if the PC detects it.
If other devices, like a flash drive run, then your web cam is dead. You can try the web cam on a friends computer to see if it's ok.

If the web cam is good, and no USB devices work in your USB slot, You can check the USB controllers in the "Device manager"

right click "My Computer"
select "Manage"
select "Device Manager"

Click the + sign for "Universal Serial Bus controllers"
Do you have any errors?

I hope this points you in the right direction...Good Luck!

My mp3 player won't do anything!!

Hello there,

It is unlikely that the player is dead but the Usb cable or USB/charging port or the battery is dead. If the player is under warranty you can demand for a replacement. Otherwise check if a replacement usb cable would fix the issue. Otherwise its going to cost you around $30 for repairs.

Usb ports not picking up memory stick

Is it just Memory Stick, or everything that you plug into USB?
Try following:
  1. plug in other USB device into ports
  2. if it does not detect any USB device on any port on your computer
  3. if both front and back USB do not work it may be taht USB is turned off in BIOS, or USB driver is corupted
  4. If you have front USBs and they just do not work there is wire connecting them to the motherboard since it may be loose, if connection is OK than they are dead.
  5. If just back USB do not work than they are dead>
