You can add a usb wifi adapter or pcmcia card. The USB adapter will work and you won't have to worry about any version to get. The pcmcia is the credit card style that fits in the side. These will work as well you may have trouble if the slot is built to the older standard slot.

The CPMCIA card will give better performance as it doesn't require as much overhead (cpu usage) as the usb but it has the slot issue to keep in mind.

Depending on what operating system you use your biggest problem is going to be drivers. If you can find some for your windows versions thats the real problem on older laptops.

I've used both usb and the pcmcia cards on a old 486 based toshiba laptop. It's not good for surfing the net but it does let me download files and do email.

I purchased the preform 1110e ellipitical it has the monitor for ifit my wifi will not pick up the connetion to the ifit on my ellipitical why WIFI Requirements for WIFI Built in Machines
here are some requirements for your machine to connect to WIFI. If you are having connection issues, please read through these requirements, and tips to troubleshoot and resolve your issue. If you are unsure of any of these settings, please refer to your ISP(Internet Service Provider), or router manufacture for support.
  1. Broadcasting in 802.11 G/N
  2. Broadcasting Publicly
  3. DHCP Enabled
  4. Mac Adress Filtering Disabled
In most cases, the main cause for your machine not to connect is an incorrect WIFI password. If you have not changed your password, it is usually located on the bottom of your router.

This console is very easy to set up and use. If you have a router that has the WPS feature, just press the button on the front of the router then in the information mode of your equipment choose the WiFi WPS setup.
Set your machine to display the Information Screen. On a treadmill press and hold the STOP button as you place the magnetic key. On a bike or elliptical check in your owners guide but you ususally press and hold the "hamburger" or calorie button.

Use the arrow keys to select WiFi normal then press ENTER.
This screen reminds you of the WiFi setup card that came with your equipment. It will be needed to enter a password for your router.
Select your router from the list.
If your router needs a password enter it using the overlay card to find the correct buttons.
You will be presented with instructions to go to to enter this token. You must log in first.
Enter the same token you saw on the screen and your equipment will be connected to iFit.

Wifi not working in house

How is your WiFi configured at home?. Do you have MAC filtering for instance set up? (i.e. filtering to only let specific machines use the WiFi based on their hardware addresses)

My internet is not working

Is the problem with the router ie. can you connect to the internet through other means? Try switching the wifi on your PC on, and make sure that the built in modem is enabled to pick up wifi (provided your machine supports wifi connectivity).

Wifi doesn't work

Yes, WiFi works but yours does not at the moment. This is a very vague question which holds a lot of answers based on any given variable. Does any other machine or device connect to this WiFi? If so, your bandwidth could be used up. If you WiFi password protected? Ensure that you are entering the correct password when selecting the WiFi network of your choice. Unplug your router, wait 10-15 seconds and then plug it back in. You can also do the same for your modem. After all lights are go, attempt to connect to this network once more and see if it works.

My Canon MG6120, which worked on wifi fine for months, now doesn't. It still works with USB connection, but that's not the point of a wifi printer! How can I fix this?

First check with another device that your wifi is working if it is try resetting up wifi on your printer.

If someone changed your wifi password you will need to enter the new password.

Limited or no connectivity to wifi.

Do the other machines on the network connect to the internet?
If so, you know its a problem with your wifi settings. Try opening a command window: start>all programs>accessories>command prompt. In this window type: ipconfig /release and press return. Then type: ipconfig /renew and return. This will assign a new ip address to your machine. If it is a problem with the network you will need to reset the modem/router and reconfigure it with your ISP details.

There are two ways to your problem:-

1. The printer is connected to another machine
Set up a Home WIFI system and then add a network printer on the machine that you want to print from. You however need to switch on the pc connected to the printer when want to print. If not sure on setting up a home WIFI system just check on the internet.

2. The printer is WIFI enabled
Just install the printer on your machine and make sure that your printer is hooked up to the WIFI network as well.
