Along with basic bike repair tools, you may want to bring Car Light Bulbs for when you bike along those deserted lightless roads at night. If you want to track your distance, cycling computers are a good idea and if you're going to leave your bike tied up outside while staying in cities, you may do well to invest in an Onguard bicycle lock.

1995 Buell S2 Battery will not start the bike

Sounds like the battery is not holding a charge, if you connect a volt meter just after charging you will get a good reading, each cell of a battery is 2.2 volts so you should have a reading of 13 volts. Battery may have a faulty cell, which will drag the other cells down, is the electolite covering the plates in all the cells, this will affect the battery's ability to hold a charge. My Suzuki did this earlier on this year, nearly bought a new battery, checked and topped up the electolite first and its been fine since

I just got a new bike for my birthday. It is a mongoose vanish with the shimano tourney sis index. The high gear and the low gears work fine when riding, but all the others jump up a gear when riding. ...

Your bike needs to have the derailers adjuster. If It was bought at a bike shop, take it back and have them adjust it. If it was bought at Wal-Mart, Fred Meyers, or any other chain store, don't waste your time going back, they don't support what they sell. Find a local bike shop and have them do the adjustments AND have them show you how to do it your self. Yes, it will cost money to do this. You could go online to shimano's web site and find the directions on adjusting the derailers, but if you do that and make the problem worse, you will find yourself at the bike shop having them take care of it. I would start at the bike shop, they may offer a free class on bike maintenance as well.

I have a Honda XR400 dirt bike and am having trouble starting it, its got compression, spark, have fully stripped an cleaned carbareter, has fuel have tryed crash starting it an it does want to fire any...

I have a 2003 XR 400 that I bought in 2005 nearly new (seller was more of an MX guy than trail guy). Thing was HARD to start no matter the conditions; hot day or cold day, sea level or 7000', dry or wet. Once I tired myself out completely and got it running, it would restart ok, but still always a challenge. After months of gritting it out, I followed the advice of everyone online. I bought a pumper carb. Don't even screw around with getting just the right jets, or all the other stuff you've already done. You bolt on the carburetor that the bike should have shipped with and you'll be one or two kicks from a nice run/idle/ride. I ride literally from sea level to 5000' with zero issues. I ride at 7000' no issues. Seriously, It was the best ~$350 I ever spent.

Rmz 250 valve problems

Yes, it is a valve problem. It sounds like a weak intake valve is dishing / stretching due to overheating. The exhaust valves are made to better withstand the heat. Check for cooling problems when you replace and seat a new valve.

Instructions for fixing the choke on a Craftsman LT-1000 lawn tra

I have been hearing alot of this problem. Well it is gravity flow. I just bought a 2002 lt1000 17 hp without a carb the guy was having the same problem so he sent the carb away to get checked out and low and behold it got lost. He waited the summer to see if it would show up but it did not. He got mad and bought a new bigger one. Any ways i am waiting on a new one. Now in my reading these problems i discovered that the fuel line coming out of the tank to the carb is lower. Might be somthing to look at. JIM

Problems starting my 2003 Yamaha TTR225

The cylinder is the coil. It might be bad but it is expensive and you would not replace it till you know for sure there is no spark. You can take the plug out and then put it on the wire and ground it against the engine while a friend cranks the starter. Look for the spark flash. Make sure the kill switch is in the "on" position.
If that shows a spark then you will need to move into a different line of troubleshooting. I always recommend that people buy a Clymer manual.
