Cable is loosly connected at the back of the monitor or the computer//
unplug ang replug it proberly and firmly/
if that does not work then check the pwr outlet wit other one/
it could be also the problem of the vga cable which connects the computer and the monitor.

TODAY AFTER ONE YEAR WORKING PERFECTLY,MY E-MACHINE GATEWAY MONITOR,SHOWED :OUT OF FREQUENCY RANGE AND TURNS BLACK,AND COMPUTER HANGED FOR A WHILE,TILL I UNPLUGGED FROM POWER CORD AND REBOOT IT. WHAT WAS...

If the computer hangs for a while and reoots and then works the monitor, it tells me that the signal to the monitor went dead until rebooting. It is as if you unplugged the monitor from the vga or dvi card, or it was getting an incorrect signal from the vga or dvi card. It may not be the monitor, so much as it is the computer doing this to the good monitor.
One can test to see if the monitor is bad by using it on another computer tower or desktop to see if it does it there. Good luck on this diagnosis.

Inout signal out of range Answer Failed: retry

It shows out of range because the PC is sending out the video signal that is higher than the monitor can display, you need to set the PC video resolution to the native resolution: 1024 x 768 @60Hz. You can reboot the PC into save mode (hitting F8 key while booting up) then set the resolution to 640 x 480 (try 1024 x 768 if it allows you to do so), reboot and reset the resoltion to 1024 x 768 @60Hz.

Screen comes on says Acer then No Signal, and goes out. if shut power off and then back on get same result.

This means the monitor believes it's not connected to the computer. Verify the cables first of all. Then try booting in safe mode (F8 key at PC startup) in order to verify that the PC is sending data to the proper video port (you might have a dual VGA / Digital output, for example, and the monitor might be connected to the wrong PC port). Quite often, a "bad signal" will be the same of "no signal"; and you can have a bad signal if the monitor resolution on the PC is set too high. This could happen if you installed a high-resolution capable monitor, and then replaced it with a not-completely-plug-and-play, lower resolution one. The PC would keep sending hi-res signals to a monitor which can neither interpret them, nor tell the PC "please slow down". To check this last possibility, reboot your computer while the monitor is ON. When PCs reboot, they usually drop back to standard VGA signaling, which all monitors understand. If the monitor abruptly comes to life and displays a boot screen, then goes No Signal again after several seconds, you've got a resolution issue; get in Safe Mode with F8 key at boot, and modify the screen properties (right-mouse button on the desktop, then Properties).

If everything else fails, try also connecting the monitor to another PC or laptop, to see if it works there.

My monitor gets switched off when i connect to cpu,the moment i disconnect it from cpu,its switches on automatically.what may be the problem?

One of two things:

1.) Your video card is 'stuck' in standby mode, which in turn sends a signal putting the monitor in low power 'standby' mode as well. When you disconnect it, the monitor returns to normal 'on' mode. Rebooting the PC should correct this issue.

2.) Your resolution or refresh rate are set outside the range supported by the monitor. When you connect the monitor, it starts receiving a signal that it can't display, so it simply turns off. You'll need to reboot the PC and press F8 quickly to bot into safe mode and correct the monitor settings.
