Macbook screen crashes when connected to projector

I'm having troubles with my macbook (intel) when connected to projectors. It's always worked fine, but since a couple of weeks when I connect the mac to a projector and I start a presentation or a video FULL-SCREEN my mac's screen crashes - I don't see anything but blurred colors - even though the projected image keep working! This is quite a problem for conferences, when I NEED to work my display. Please note that everything works until I start FULL-SCREEN modality.
I know it's not a projector's problem because I tried many. I fear it's a video hardware problem on my mac. Anybody can help me? Thanx.

What might be the problem since my macbook pro is connected to the projector through a HDMI to VGA adapter, yet the screen remains black?

Vga and hdmi are different formats. Unless you are using a coverter box that translates the data from one format to another it won't work. Vga is analog and hdmi is digital

Can i hook up a macbook to this projector?

sure can!

There are a few options. Check out the apple website for a list of adapters.

Your best bet, depending on what macbook you have, would be a mini-DVI (plugs in to your macbook) to a DVI (plugs into the projector computer input)

The adapters are quite cheap at around $15 adn this will make the projector work just like an extra monitor connected to your macbook

Good luck!!

Dell 3400mp not getting signal from Macbook

If you were using the Apple S-video adapter to connect to your Dell projector, please realize that MacBook models with NVIDIA graphics cards do not support this adapter. Otherwise, please be more specific about what model Mac you have and what adapter cable you are using.

Macbook & Projectors

Hi there
Yep, sounds like the machine thinks it is an additional monitor. So you can run it as that but the mirroring does not work. So the mirroring works with your own projector?

There are a couple of things you can do. Try connecting the projector and power it up when you machine is off and then boot your machine up. If the mirroring still does not work open up your display panel look under arrangement. You should then see two displays. One will have a red line around it. That is your laptop. In the display panel you can then drag the second display over your display and that should have the same effect as mirroring.

That's the low tech first try.
