Question about Refrigerators
While visiting my grandkids, I noticed their Frigidaire FRS26ZPH frig had no ice and water did not come out of the dispenser. They said no one changed the filter since the light had indicated the filter needed to be replaced.
I bought a new filter and installed it. I tried to fill an 8 oz. glass. The water trickled out at first (1/16'' stream), then began to come faster, then it jumped to a full stream and started to sputter. I had to remove the glass as it was full. When I tried the water again, nothing came out. There was water in the filter housing, but I couldn't get any water to come out.
As first thing remove the food and do a complete defrost, leaving the fridge disconnected overnight. If the water was not circulating, water may have frozen in the lines. A piece of ice stuck in water pipes will typically cause the symptoms you have described.
Disconnect power and ensure that the filter is of the same kind. One filter has white ends, while a similar replacement has blue ends. The filter may need to be fixed with an O-ring.
Remove the filter, ensure it is the same as the old one, check that it is comfortably fitting in the housing, and put it back in place.
Here parts and diagrams.
