as the car never had the radio control wheel in the first place you would have to make sure that the radio has the relevent wiring to connent to one , i think you might find you'll have to install a wiring loom that connects the radio to the wheel buttons

the LCD has several other functions that work right? So the radio fuses may need replacing.Also try to press and hold the radio - audio button for a few seconds and test for other radio band function,like wx or am and fm2.

You must try to reset the microprocessor in the Clock/Radio. To do this you must unplug the Clock/Radio from the A/C power source.Then remove the Internal battery(CR2430). Let the Clock/Radio set without a power source for about 3 hours. This will discharge the microprocessor and reset it. After you have discharged the microprocessor,you can reinstall the internal battery. Connect the Clock/Radio to the A/C power source. The Clock/Radio's Functions should have returned to normal function. If the Clock/Radio did not return to normal function, you must replace the internal battery and again let the microprocessor discharge. After the microprocessor has discharged,put in the new internal battery and reconnect the Clock/Radio to the A/C power source. The Clock/Radio should have returned to normal function. If you are still having problem with the functions of the Clock/Radio, You will have to call Emerson Customer Support. The telephone number for the Emerson customer support is 1-800-909-1240. you can call them between the hours of 8am-4:30pm CT. Hello lstimpson,

You may have the CTCSS privacy code function enabled on one radio and not on the other. This function keeps your radio's received muted unless it receives a signal from another radio using the same privacy code. If you have Privacy Codes set for radio A but not for radio B you will still be able to transmit from A to B but when you transmit on radio B your signal will not be heard on radio A.

Make sure that both radios are set to the same privacy code or that the function is turned off on both radios.

T5900 Walkie Talkie Issue


Hello Bo Duke,

If one radio won't walk to the other my guess if that you have the Privacy Code function set up incorrectly.

The privacy code function mutes the radio unless it receives a signal from another radio transmitting the same privacy code. If Privacy Codes are turned on for Radio A but not turned on for Radio B then you will be able to transmit from Radio A to Radio B but not from Radio B to Radio A. If Privacy Codes are turned on for both radios but each unit is set to a different code then neither radio will be able to talk to the other.

Make sure that the radios are both set to the same privacy code or that the privacy code function is turned off on both radios. You can find more information on how this function is set in the radio's Owner's Manual.

My Binatone Marina 300 Walkie talkies give hiss & noise. Pressing menue and up or menu alone makes no difference. How can I have a quiet radio except when called?


Hello andy300,

Does the "RX" indicator show on the LCD screen constantly?

This radio does have a monitor function which disables the squelch control, allowing the user to listen to weak signals on the channel. Enabling this function in absence of any signals will cause the user to hear any background static or noise on the channel. You enable this function by pressing Menu + Up at the same time and disable the function by pressing Menu.

I assume that you are familiar with this function from the fact that you mention these keystrokes have no affect on the radio's behavior.

It is possible that the area you are using the radios in / channel you are using them on has a very high noise level. If the noise level is higher then the radio's automatic squelch threshold, then you would hear constant static, hiss, or white noise and the receive ("RX") indicator would show a constant signal. A local noise level can be caused by atmospheric conditions or very busy nearby adjacent-channel radio signals.

Try operating the radios on a different channel and see if that helps. If it is practical, you might try operating the radios in a different local area just to see if that has any effect at all. This would help you determine if the problem was a local one specific to the area you are operating in.

If it is local area related you might consider switching to a different model of radio that includes a Continuous Coded Squelch System (CTCSS) function (called "privacy codes" or "quiet tones" by come manufacturers. This function does not appear to be included in the model you are using and can help keep your radios silent unless you receive a call from another radio using the exact same privacy code.

If the problem persists regardless of channel or area, then you might have a problem with the radio that would require factory service.
